False hopes20 Dec 2018 15:43
Speaking on camera at the World Oil and Gas Week in December 2017 Dr Robert Trice spoke these words "the vessel will be on station September onwards"
Reverandy proposed a FOIL date sweepstake. Despite official Company guidance on FOIL in H1 2018 fifty three posters chose a date in 2018 for FOIL. Apart from some who now claim their choices were pure optimism I would suggest that the remainder chose their dates because of RT's stated expectation that the vessel will be on station September onwards. By August there was much expectation that the AM's departure from Dubai was imminent as well as speculation on the start of sea trials which turned out to be false. Company guidance stated sail away in Q2 to Q3 2018 but in fact departure was on 13th October. Thirteen days later than guidance.
Again speaking on camera in June with MGW RT replies to MGW's question six week trip would you say?
"Yes it'll be about six weeks, it'll be stopping off in Holland to have the flare stack attached".
So six weeks from Dubai to Lancaster which seemed logical on the basis of a 4 week trip from Dubai to Rotterdam and another 2 weeks for the stopover and final stage to Lancaster. All seems fairly achievable; should be at Lancaster by end of November.
The earliest possible arrival date WoS will now be 11 weeks after departure from Dubai during the worst of the weather conditions and limited opportunities for a quick hook up.
The delays are not the fault of HUR but RT ought to be more cautious in making public statements on timescales which are subsequently not met and create false hopes.
