She has been in the Lancaster area for a number of days but was previously reporting destination as Beatrice guard vessel.

No doubt the rope will be a uniform colour. I was describing it as it appears in the photo. The rope winds on that drum look pretty substantial to me, far more than a light weight rope intended to pull in the main rope. I have considered the dual rope argument and we can only speculate but it does tend to suggest that the main rope is unwound and lowered through the turret and an ROV used to retrieve the end and connect it to the buoy.

The photo was taken by Neven Fotografie in Rotterdam on 9th December when Damen Verolme held an openday. Shame nobody told us.

On the same level as the man in green helmet just slightly right of center you can see the substantial supporting bracket with bearing and behind the top half of the winch drum and brown or orange colour rope.

Interesting new photo in the gallery which shows the structure above the turret with what looks very much like a winch central above the turret.

I don’t know how integral but fishing vessels, old rusty or otherwise have been involved in the operation.

Go to page 16 and the illustration titled installation activities. Bottom left is a photo of what appears to be a fishing vessel with the description guard vessel. This was to guard the buoy and mooring system. The last one I observed on site was the Maggie M (former name GV Courage).

From the updated article:

"Earlier a spokesman for Spirit Energy said the delay was due to issues relating the hook-up of floating production vessel for Hurricane’s Lancaster field, with the GWA drilling due to take place immediately after the completion of that work.

However, Hurricane later clarified that the delay was due to acquiring the rig taking longer than expected and not related to the Lancaster project."

Pleased to see HUR on the ball with that clarification.

I know LSE is not entirely reliable but I don’t think it was issues the site today. Could be related to your location. Money AM has very useful and readily accessible information as well as the live prices and despite the time limited streaming can be easily re-accessed by refreshing the page.

Have you forgotten PC01’s post last Friday.
Quoting from that post:

“The spare should be available from around the end of February with a hookup attempt possible thereafter depending on the weather”

Having said in the last RNS “The Aoka Mizu is returning to the Cromarty Firth to await delivery of a new pull-in rope.
A FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE ISSUED ONCE HOOK-UP HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED.”

I find it hard to understand why they would reply to any enquiry with specific information on delivery of the replacement. I’m sure they are extremely frustrated with the situation and I rather doubt RT is still as chilled as he was at the beginning of January.

I cannot help wondering if they did achieve hookup on that first trip and (as was suggested by some posters unhooked as a procedural requirement. I remember they remained for some time after presumably in hope the weather would moderate for a second attempt only departing when it became clear there was no chance.
