Yes they can only blame them for so long, but you have to be honest they have an awful lot to blame them for, they couldn't have been a lot worse than they were, absolutely awful incompetence. Stop trying to blame this government for 14yr of mis rule, any government that thought heating pensioner's homes while they are on holiday, instead of investing in hospitals,schools etc, because it made them more popular,was bound to be a disaster and leave an awful mess behind them.

I don't understand all these (over) complicated arguments. Two years ago I had very nearly the same amount invested here and in a bog standard savings account, 2 year ago the savings account out performed this, last year the savings account òut performed this, good chance it will do so this year, I'm retaining my original amount and getting interest on the interest.Therefore savings account is best at the moment, I'll keep both, just in case, but basically this is failing against pretty bog standard products.

I'll tell you my gripe with pensioner's, of which I'm one. I mix with lots of them in many ways often. For example I was recently on holiday with a group, several of whom started moaning about their loss. This was the back end of November, in the next breath they are telling me about the two more holidays they have planned before Christmas, a great friend of mine spends the entire winter in his time share, most go on winter sun holidays or off in their camper vans . Please tell me how you think heating their empty houses is good use of taxpayers money? I know other pensioner's struggle, but they are not loosing the allowance are they. Pensioner's are often loaded, I'm certainly not, but I've used the heating allowance to buy a large portion of my Christmas presents in the past.Now I have to use my own money, not yours.

And don't even get me started on the poor pensioner and the heat allowance.

How you must miss the good old days when everything was perfect. They inherited a shambles and you need to pretty thick to think that can be fixed overnight with policies everyone loves. Good on um for making tough decisions, let's wait a couple of years before we see the long term results.

I'm long since past caring, my small investment was written off many months ago as most of you probably know. One observation though, don't follow the advice of anyone who says they have a large investment here. If you where foolish enough to invest heavily here you have already demonstrated poor judgement for all to see.

No a bank doesn't pay 8.9% but it doesn't loose 6.63% (year to date ) of your original investment value either.

I didn't say loosing. I said making most. Retaining the value of my original investment plus interest is making me more than loosing the value of my original investment plus dividends. In my book that gives me more money to invest in the right place at the right time. Easyjet or Equals for example.

I don't need to read books to know where I'm making the most money. That's in my bank not here.
