Lord Adam cap gains21 Feb 2018 23:10
You would be very hard pushed to owe cap gains tax on vod shares, Even if you had bought at 1.50 before the verizon sale' you would probably have a cap gains loss, as the gains would have been realised in the tax year of the verizon sale & the re issue of a reduced amount of vod shares, would result in a loss. The vod share swap would count as almost a 50% cap gains loss. Since the verizon deal, the vod sp has had a bad run ( though good divi's) About 2.40 high, down to 1.90 low, I have moved shares into I S A 's only recently (2 years) because of the 7.5 divi tax & open'd them with I G stockbrokers because there was no charge to hold an I S A , but now they want to charge me, What a rip off, I complained but no good, so I will transfer to hargreaves, (my non I S A broker at a 45 a year each charge. I wonder if I S A's are worth it sometimes?
