Hello Gerry, you have often indicated in the past, that it would be good, if the vod sp fell to round about the level they are today. I just wandered if you still think that, & do you think with the divi yield currently at over 7%, vod is a very good buy? I must confess I am a bit nervous of the falling sp, so I am looking to you for a bit of calm re assurance. No pressure!!

I'm not sure if you mean the s.p. rises before divi pay day, or before ex divi day, either way there is no logical reason for the sp to rise on either day. Some may buy just before ex divi,because they don't realise the sp will fall afterwards, but I would think by now that most realise the sp will fall after ex divi day. You could argue that the sp will rise after the divi payment, because of share holders re investing the divi, but I think most large share holders don't re invest there divi's, they just spend it. (lucky them). As for Mandrill's market conspiracy, what a load of nonsense! Why do certain people always have believe in conspiracy. It's called market forces, not conspiracy.

Hello Gerry, I was very interested in your post where you suggested, although you like vod shares because of the high divi , you seem to say that you just reinvest the divi. What I don't get is, what is the point of paying a high divi , if investors just plough the the money strait back in, they have to pay dealing costs & stamp duty, so why not just pay no divi, & keep the sp the same. i e . no fall by divi on ex divi day. I assumed you kept the divi as I do. (income) .Divi reinvestment on high yield divi shares to me makes no sense, unless perhaps to avoid cap gains tax, but it is not that difficult to avoid unless you are super rich, & anyway I Thought all your shares were in an i.s a . By the way I wonder where your 10 year graph for vod sp comes from, some are way wrong. Has vod been a good investment? It all depends when you bought. At 2.50 bad, at 1.50 good. I have some random, but totally accurate closing sp's over the last 8 years, & I've held vod for about 20 years, so have some older sp info as well... Clearly your head is just full off eggs if you don't get why you get slated for saying vod shares are a heap of crap. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but most posters on here probably hold & support vod shares, so, please give us your opinion, but clearly a lot of us don't think vod shares are a heap of crap.

Are we missing something? I don't know. But nasdaq at record highs & ftsi not far off, why is vod lagging behind. Is it because the div yield being so high is bleeding the sp? Or Is the vod sp, way under priced??

Good point, but after a good start (only down 7p) a bit of a flop at the end.

Hi, Is your �20 position, �20 to a penny & is it spread bet or c f d. I've tried both, but if you have no end date on cfd's you have to pay to keep the position open & need to deposit a large margin. I think if you have no end date, better to buy the shares. I know that involves stamp duty, but I think it's the best option. But good luck.

Sorry, but what are you talking about, of course vod isn't going to just away 9p to divi hunters. I have said many times, if you read my posts, that the sp falls by the divi. on this occasion vod gained about 2p on the nasdaq after the ftsi closed & this was reflected in the initial fall of only 7p.

I predict the opening sp at 1.89. The closing nasdaq price 26.52 divided by 10. times exch rate .75 = 198.9 minus margin for error of 1 minus divi 9 =188.9. But I think (guess) they will close at 1.92. or higher, I hope.

There are some very stupid people who think the whole stockmarket is just rigged by MM's because they have to blame somebody. They should just stick to the aim markets.
