Italy have had 5 years to offer an acceptable settlement. They didnt. Let them appeal. 120 days will soon pass and then the interests starts to accumulate again until they pay up or we decide on which state owned assets to seize.
Their gamble would have been great from an Italian perspective had they won, but they lost and lost big. Now they’ll bear the consequences and we should definitely not entertain the idea of a settlement less than 100% of the award IMO.

I just realised that the interest on the award settlement owed by Italy is rather significant. Sorry if this has been covered before…
EURIBOR + 4% annually for 6 years, is roughly EUR 43 mio- or more than half our current market cap for the interest alone!! And it will increase at a much faster rate going forward due to the recent positive EURIBOR rate (as opposed to negative which has been the case for the previous 6 years).
I say take you time Italy… we don’t mind waiting to collect our award until it is time to drill holes all over the south Atlantic sea floor..
The current valuation of RKH is just plain nuts…

The man/woman just asked a question Ovets… i know we are all fed up with posters trying to talk this down, but as far as i can see header just appears to be an Ill informed/new investor seeking reassurance or to learn. I read these boards to learn myself and there are heaps that I know nothing about with regards to rkh which others may see as fundamental to their decision making. Perhaps give the poster the benefit of doubt before being rude?

Boiled frog syndrome is a metaphor used in risk management to describe the failure to recognise a low risk scenario that slowly increases over time until it suddenly leads to a catastrophic outcome. The gradual incremental increase in severity-should the risk event occur-goes unrecognised until too late.
The reverse could be happening here. Rockhopper shareholders have been so accustomed to disappointment that we may not fully recognised or accept what is finally taking place or fail to see the bigger picture. I imagine us who have been following this story for years on end, may have a head start before this catches on like it did during last drilling campaign. The question is, are we too battle scarred and cynical to recognise and act on this window of opportunity before the big buyers arrive?

Interesting take and thanks for sharing your experience. Was it through ICSID also? If we end up getting no award or an unfairly low one, there could possibly be a very tempting buying opportunity short term. As everyone is aware this case became a sideshow after Navitas joined, but I suspect we could have a significant short term dip from traders who are invested based on a positive outcome and the subsequent re-rating.

Every single stock I own is red today except Rockhopper. Pretty much every day for the past 10 years it has been the other way around….just sayin’ :-)

5 years, 2 month and counting since this case was filed… if you ICSID chaps hurry up, you might achieve a closure in the same time as it took to build Burj Khalifa…

Yes that is correct. And if the Italians are granted the additional 60 days delay, I hope it comes with severe consequences if they are to lose. It could and should be argued that RKh’s recent capital raise would have been unnecessary, should we win even a modest award. In fact, it most likely wouldn’t have been necessary had italy stuck to their agreement and let OM go ahead. Truly a case of justice delayed is justice denied. This type of conduct must be made an example of IMO

Looks like Ms Teslyn Barkman has her work cut out for her for the reminder of the Year…its getting harder by the day to remain cynic and pessimistic.
Arbitration award is becoming a sideshow now, but for the love of god why is this taking so long…?? World wars has been fought and won in less time. If there is any justice at all then we are due a significant and inflation adjusted compensation for Italys robbery including an added penalty for their delaying tactics and with interest!
You probably wouldn’t want to be out of this over the weekend :-)

It will remain stuck around 7p until OO is out of the way IMO. Also RKH will not realise its potential until FID is signed with a clear path to monetising the asset. When that happens there will be a rerating that will make your head spin
