What about something like an accelerated bookbuild, aren't these offered to 'preferred' parties and could be done in a day?
My understanding of placings is that potential places are made insiders, and if they are up for it, the deal could be struck at an agreed price and then only announced officially after agreement.
Potential placees are also bound not to make anything public under MAR regulations if they are made aware of price sensitive information, and are blocked from trading the stock until any announcement has been made public.
Many placings are mooted, but may not actually happen if the price or demand is not there, and the 'general public' would never find out about those.
Placings only tend to be 'announced' if they are trying to drum up new investors, or raise a larger sum than they think can be taken up y existing 'friendly' holders, so imo it is possible to do a placing without having to RNS it until after the event (once it has been taken up).

The leaking of any potential placing ahead of any official announcement is another matter, rumours often abound in that regard

Misleading to suggest it closed up 8.29%, when the reality is closer to it being flat.

There was one at close 2 days ago (similar no. of shares too), some 15% over the Ask seen towards the end of day.
SP then opened down the next day closer closer to the 'real' price in the 0.90/0.95 area seen before this trade went through.
Wonder if we will see the official close price change tonight too.

The buy and sell indicators seen on trades are just that.
It is a best efforts notification based on the prevailing bid/ask at the time and can be misleading to the true picture of what is happening. There is no requirement for any trade to be reported as a buy/sell. It is simpply a 'trade'
All part of an EU directive on Trade Reporting (MiFID II) and covers all European markets.

Most AIM companies will initially raise funds through placings, as 'standard' initially, as more 'normal' methods such as loans may be considered too expensive, or they may not even find a lender willing to lend.
Depends on the stage of the growth of the company, as to what options are available.
Placings are usually quick and cheap to arrange, so will be the 'go to' method, especially if there are 'friendly; investors willing to invest at what is usually a discount.
What you don't want is one of the many 'loan' companies who will just churn shares for a small turn

I had a quick read through this thread, and Heid was there too have just topped up.
Think this was prior to the EWT when the SP rose quite sharply in anticipation up to around 2.60 level.
SS needs some new trousers ready to give us some good news at the AGM.

Still went ahead with my buy as it maintained my average, but DYOR

Agree, Cannacord were never selling, it just fitted conveniently with BWM's agenda that every known big holder and placee were trying to get out.
Not convinced they are buying either, though, as they could have taken the entire placing if they had wanted more (pretty sure others took up shares).
Personally, I think they bought to hold at the current level.

I think the open (yesterday's close) was a false position.
From memory, the close mid-price was quoted as 1.11, yet the bid/ask was showing something like .090/0.95.
Possibly a late trade distorting the 'official' close to the true reflection on the day - there was a small UT trade after market close at 1.11, whereas the all trades prior to this were all in the 0.91/0,95 range.

Yes, I expect it is something that 1 person can handle without too much impact on other business.
I do think that GL will give details in the announcement though, especially as the numbers could be necessary if/when any additional funding may be needed further down the line. Not expecting cash generated to solely pay for other projects, and some certainty on cashflow from SF will aid cash raising (away from more costly placings).
Will see in time though. Expecting several news updates throughout June.

Agree, not really comparable, but interesting that over the past 6 week period, both UJO and ANGS up almost 100%, whilst ukog down around 15% in the same timeframe.
I'm in all 3, so not trying to ramp/deramp any as see them all coming good in different timeframes and all with plenty of news flow to land in the coming weeks and months.
Expect all 3 to be considerably higher by late Q3/Q4.

Any idea how it would work re: price?
Would it be based on an average over a certain period at a specific point in time, such as first day of each quarter (e.g. ave of next 3 monthly contracts, or 2 quarterlies as of 1st July), a discount based on the same, or the prevailing price at the time?
Frequency of review, 6-monthly, annually?
Are these farly standard, or will expected volumes (current and future) also be a factor?

I am a private investor with a significant (for me) holding built up over 3 years or so.
Apologies if I am not as rich and successful as you like to brag about being, but it doesn't make my views any less valid.
Frustrated at the delays here, mostly due to unforeseen circumstances (Jan 2019 operational update had 6 wells, self-funded by now), and poor company planning (imo), and the lack of communication from our leader to update shareholders on progress.
Less concerned at the SP, despite holding a paper loss, as can see the potential, but looking for some proper direction at the AGM, and do not see the SP moving too much higher here until end Q3/Q4, unless there is some significant news (CPR).
You, clearly see everyone not 100% positive in all things ukog as a troll. Your prerogative, but perhaps view other investors' opinions and concerns, without automatically dismissing them out of hand?

And the 'spread' is reasonable too
