Not another first time poster!11 Jun 2020 00:01
Hi All, been here a little while without posting so thought I would finally make a post about my little Avacta story. Fully expecting the first post battering I have watched many others get over time ha.
I am a relatively new investor and very small fry compared to many here. I found Avacta and started looking into them when it was around 40p a share but did not buy until just under 70p a share. Admittedly initially this was via the covid related stuff and it was between Avacta and NCYT at the time on where to put my money. I decided with the cancer treatment Avacta for me had more about it. As I read more about the company and the excellent interviews with the CEO etc I genuinely got excited about the company (not the covid stuff) and found myself buying more (last buy was at £1.40 - I only hold about 4000, told you small fry) I am happy with this amount as I am not Warren Buffett and my wife would castrate me if I started dropping the life savings in here when lets be honest a little knowledge can be dangerous. My hope is it will at least double or even triple over the next 12- 18 months.
I have had my ups and downs with this share in this short space of time though and at times nearly got lead by what others say rather than what I felt and what my OWN research had told me over the weeks. Luckily, I held through this although in hindsight would love to have sold when it hit £2 and bought back in at £1.30 but as I said… Novice. This board is a strange old place as the amount of useful information and insightful posts to be found on this board is staggering but you do have to wade through an awful lot of s*** (like this post) and it takes some time to start seeing certain patterns of ramping and deramping with some posters (not just the Avacta board). If you dig enough and read enough though there are mountains of excellent opinions both for an against Avacta.
I do get concerned that some posters (on both sides of the coin) do seem to be relied on too much by new investors on what they should do with THEIR money (I do not mean that as a slight on the individuals giving the advice as some of the information they have provided has been excellent in “helping” me make my decisions). I just feel some newer investors seem to be skipping doing research themselves and relying on someone’s advice on a BB. This seems a little dangerous to me. Personally, rightly or wrongly I have always tried to remain equally sceptical of those who are shooting for the stars at £100 a share and those who reckon 20p is on its way. It is said so often here as it is so important, you should always be doing your own research.
As for the future with Avacta while nothing is 100%, and while I do have little things that niggle away at me with the company, I think the future looks good. There seems to be plenty of good news heading our way over the coming weeks, months and years so hopefully we all make a bit of money. Best of luck all
