The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Yes this LAMP test looks great, no need for reagents and would be a nice acquisition for NCYT. Just a bit stuck on on RT-PCR right now. Can labs use this new prep method on saliva samples in existing genesig machines for example and expect detection rates on par with swabs?
That would be amazing.
Or just push on with RT-PCR, seems like it detects saliva samples, but with crude low load samples prep needs done first.
The saliva study we were discussing last week which showed a poor detection on low load saliva samples took the wind out a bit. But this study was done to improve that basically. They reckon they've cracked the code with a simple preparation (they were basically just throwing crude saliva samples into machines before).
Prep:
"(1:1 mix of saliva and
263 MucolyseTM (active ingredient dithiothreitol)) requires saliva dilution in 10% (w/v) Chelex® 100 Resin
264 and heating to 98oC 2 minutes prior to adding to the direct RT-LAMP reagents."
Okay that's cool, so they have a prep now and can use saliva samples in existing machines. Still doesn't tell us what happens when you use this prep in RT-PCR. How fast is that. If I'm reading this right then RT-PCR has 100% success rate in detecting saliva with this method too?
The purpose of the test was to see if RT-LAMP could match genesig RT-PCR on saliva samples.
Now the study says that the RT-LAMP samples (at 3 different viral loads) did match RT-PCR thresholds.
"The time to positivity for which SARS-CoV-2 RNA was detected in these positive saliva samples was proportional to the real-time reverse-transcriptase PCR cycle threshold"
RT-LAMP times:
High load: 5 min 43 sec
Medium load: 7min 59 sec
Low load: 8 min 35 sec
What exactly were the genesig RT-PCR times? Study doesn't say.
Ah this webinar might be in Spanish or at least dual languages, looks aimed at the Mexican market:

Remember Jack Taylor said he spent a day working on implementing Spanish into the edit for the 'international committee'.

#Novacyt where Covid-19 test kits are developed for the fight against this evil virus. Spent another day working with the team implementing Spanish into the mix for the international committee and I’m pleased to say it was all signed off today in lieu of the deadline. Once again over delivering has paid off and I didn’t get the call for this until Wednesday so it’s been busy and challenging, which is exactly why I love what we do.
Presentation could be the first we see of his work.
At least a tiny bit of hope for a little new info and an RNS tomorrow.

SP Angel's latest effort. Pump it n place it? ;)

@Ali
Very nice, cheers! Think we needed some sort of hint that there's a reason we're not hearing a lot from them lately even though we can see they're busy behind the scenes.
Well here's hoping for something by the end of the month. Will be fun watching SNG today anyway!
Well she might if grapes were Tesco's main product and the analogy was a bit better! ;)
@ donno Exactly, go through NCYT's RNS's. There's nothing there.
3 new products, maybe something about contracts to come.
Something done with the US, get you some info another time.
Sold some stuff in the past half year, not as much as you thought guys, get you more in the second half.
Couple contracts extended there, tell you more about it later.
What in the name of Christ is that. Anyone wondering why this has continually tanked doesn't need to look much further.
Tesco has a ton of information about their bloody grapes all over Google. Everything from Suntrail farms to spiders that zealously their grapes from bugs. The media takes care of information on large cap companies. No free ride on AIM, you need to put the work in on informing the market if you want to take 100's of millions of retail investors cash and hold it.
@Bing It's AIM though which means these are low float stocks and easily manipulated. Brokers and MM's can move the price in ways and amounts that are impossible on the main markets. AIM also has a history of scandals and a high number of delisted ventures.
Companies on AIM need do need to babysit investors, because any investor here that isn't twitchy is probably clueless and a bit new.
Novacyt and Thermofisher I think are the two biggest covid qPCR players there, and then there's a few smaller guys I found digging around Google. Really need someone more clued in on the various PCR types though.
Totally Chris, it just takes one thing to turn sentiment around. It's so fickle here. SNG guys suffered like dogs for this day and it was well worth all the negativity, doubt and trolling they've had thrown at them.
NCYT is badly undervalued and the market just needs an update to know everything's okay and that the sales we thought that justified a £5 share price earlier in the year are forthcoming. It's been months since then and doubt fills the information void. This is retail investor cash, and it's rightly more fickle that II cash because this is people's hard work, savings etc. If NCYT wants to hold onto it, they need to prove they're worth it. Exact details of contracts, trials, new developments etc and regularly.
No free ride for any company. Large caps on FTSE 100 have a lot of media interest to keep thee news coming, good or bad. NCYT and these micro/small caps have only their RNS's and investor presentations really.
@ Junior. Oh sorry you've misunderstood. No-one knows who has those antigen contracts, or who will be given them. It's definitely not a 'no' though.
To the contrary, it's more than likely that NCYT have the biggest portion of those 500k tests as NCYT is an existing part of the infrastructure and has developed higher throughput PCR tests which can be used in NHS and Nightingale sites. I just don't want to say yes that's us, because it needs confirmed by RNS.
Nice find btw shares!
Always makes me suspicious when someone on a low post count 'finds' that sort of thing haha!
Not my concern though *ahem*
That link doesn't work for me, says session timed out.
Searched manually though and yes it's there and yes that's the sort of tender you'd expect NCYT to walk into.
Try this link and pick 2nd one down (MHRA)
https://phe.bravosolution.co.uk/esop/toolkit/opportunity/opportunityList.do?reset=true&resetstored=true&oppList=PAST
@troublesome Haha yeah, that'd give us 100%
Then we get a US sales contract of 500 million and we're back to 200p
@ Usain Knowing our luck yes!
Next RNS will be for a contract of 1 kit to a farmer in the Isle of Man.
@ Junior Tenders for those antigen contracts are due this week, (maybe even closing today for testing tenders) so we will see shortly after those are processed.
NCYT was the original PCR heavyweight supplying the NHS and even pre-tender for the 5 bill lots NCYT said they've had two contracts extended one well into 2021. One of those is likely to be the NHS, and then we have the tender coming up.
We have two shots at news soon relating to NHS/PHE contracts.
Yeah Bramley, it's all about volume. Nova's teetering along on fumes and has been for a while. I'm actually impressed it's sustained this share price lately, though that speaks to its fundamentals, the company does have value, the market just isn't excited about it right now. And I do also think that if ODX and SNG didn't have news today we'd have done a bit better here too.
Reckon this guy sums up NCYT perfectly at the moment:

Pop over to that forum if you want some laughs!
Hemo did an investor presentation and wiped like 14% off the share price. Was 10% up now about 4% down. Utter shambles, comedy though! Some woman eating and picking her nose!
