Patxd, if we're smoke free, then there'll be a lot more drug addicts on tranq, fentanyl or some other cocaine based drug.... Cigarette smoking is a much better activity than the highly addictive much more dangerous drugs sweeping the US and now starting to appear in Europe. What the politicians don't realise is that a high proportion of the population needs some kind of drug to cope with the life of today.

I've been adding recently around the 2530p level avg. Share seems to be range bound in the 2500's for now.... waiting, waiting !!

Halma1983, BP was over £6 when the Gulf of Mexico spill happened. I believe it can get there again when this recessionary high interest period is over.

Weirdpal, I'm invested in both BP and SHEL and some other oilies. Why not invest in both, 2/3 SHEL as your favourite + 1/3 BP ? BP has huge upside also.

Metom, don't understand what you wrote, but JP Morgan showing themselves as not very competent having forecast a 90p price twice, one recently after the RR trading update. Then today they increase their forecast to 235p and give a Neutral rating. I wonder if some summer intern did the 90p price targets and, now the big boys are back from their hols, a senior analyst gave today's 235p target ? I wouldn't use them for advice anyway !!

And fair play to him Dinoken !! There's more corruption, lack of transparency, Greed and dishonesty by stealth around these days than I've ever seen in my life time and I'm no spring chicken !! Fraud and hacking is way up. It all comes down to a huge loss of respect within society because there are now too many people. Some reckon we are overpopulated by 3b.

People are also less content and bored and more amgry at the Super Rich / Poor divide which I feel needs serious correcting (I am by no means a socialist, but one person being worth 100's of billions whilst many are starving is a large red flag). Maybe Infosys is the best co for the job, maybe BP got the business to benefit Infosys's aspirations for expansion in the UK ? I get your point though !!

Atrm2, if the West is so concerned at the likes of Unilever (ULVR) continuing to operate in Russia, then shouldn't the Western high and mighty Governments and NGOs offer to compensate ULVR for leaving ? Why should Unilever hand millions in value to Russia and lose it. I'm invested in enough other UK shares which have left Russia and lost value from their balance sheets without compensation. There are the Russian assets in bank accounts outside of Russia as well as the oligarch assets confiscated by various Governments - what is happening to that value ? Believe me, even though the Western regimes are not as squeaky clean as they like us to think, if I had a loaded gun and Putin in front of me I would blow his head off, not much else would give me as much satisfaction......

This is just a WSJ writer trying to justify a job. Yes, there's is a minor risk, but probably far less than Putin firing nuclear missiles or a meteor wiping us all out !! If this falls back I'll be adding especially before Ex Div day !!

Meoryou, hope it is indeed a Win profit-wise. I think it's deplorable that Govts actually have such auctions as CAPEX and other investment is very material on top of these licences. Imagine if they existed for all business...!!

WeirdPal, if BP dishes out full pensions when employees retire at 42, well isn't that a concern for their cost control and for investors ? What % of BP employees would get this as it is extremely generous ?

Great post Exploration, maybe you should email it to Starmer and his girls in order to enlighten them about the great work being done by BP and other O&G cos in the SE area. Their stated intention, if getting into Govt., to increase the Energy Profit Levy needs to be more carefully considered.

Apologies for my last post which, when I read it tonight, does sound too strong as the fall in sp from c 1037p to under 900p takes its toll whilst the reasons for its rise still exist, eg Ukraine, NATO weapon levels not high enough, China Taiwan, Saudi Order potential, etc..

Yea fleccy. You make great sense. The Unions and Regulator would wear anyone down. Think the fall limited here by the shareholdings of Draahi and DT and prospects of them increasing stakes or making a bid. I remember when BT sp hit 70p back around 2008 when the World as we knew it was going to end !! I certainly don't think BT's problems are anywhere as bad as the perception of them in 2008 so remain quite optimistic. ATB to LTHolders.

Jlovie, hope not !! 5% div is hardly extortionate. Respectable above FTSE avg yes. Wonder if OFGEM mgt understand why people invest at all ?!! And Hunt surely wants taxes from div income ?!

Falconer, has dipped a lot more since you added. Does anyone know reason for its large drop from mid 1800's please ? Maybe the fall in Bond prices which SSE holds as part of its hedging ? Analyst Ratings have healthy price targets, the div is very respectable and solid and SSE is very ESG.... I'm a Strong Holder and will buy more if drops much more.
