Yes meoryou, you could very well prove correct in time. BT isn't perfect, eg its Debt and Pension prov., but its technical expertise, larger wider UK mass and possibly political support are big pluses.

Interesting article MJS1. I do think that BT are well aware of these risks however and, as the article says, providing broadband to rural less populated areas involves a longer payback period being more costly and more risk. Wouldn't be surprising if BT is avoiding such rural areas on purpose as a result and going for the less costly higher volume areas instead. Many of these financial journalists simply write these articles to try to write about a subject that they feel is unique and in order to get attention. BT knows its own business better than external sources and I'm sure that many of the stats relevant to their business and the competition are generated and reviewed internally even if not inserted into a regular RNS for all to see !!

There's a lot more credibility in a Trading Statement that is Honest and Transparent and faces the Challenges head-on than many of the Glossy False Marketing motivated Trading Statements that most businesses print. This guy states things as they are and, as an Accountant, will clinically address each disappointing" and "underwhelming" area or there'll be wings clipped !!

stargate, maybe you'll be right, maybe wrong. personally, don't think much of so-called technical analysis, why should a share price behave in a certain way simply because of a graph ? yes, the sp has fallen recently from £36, but one can argue then that all known bad news is within the current lower sp. with a div of over 8% and unlikely to be cut anytime soon, and with a new ceo determined to deal with the challenges, i can't see the sp falling back materially from here this year. one challenge that has grown is the criminal gangs making illicit ***s in europe, but this is being tackled on a large scale with very large confiscations taking place.
