Perception of a company affects its share price so if the Market perceives that DEC will have to pay for all its ARO's eventually then that may adversely affect the share price. Personally, like many things in life, there'll be an agreement between DEC and the auths because, as I've said, the auths do not want a lot more orphaned wells. The USA itself, as I've also already said re their culture, is waaaaay behind in providing for and repairing / replacing Infrastructure, Prisons, etc... US is itself Bankrupt - $33,000,000,000,000 Net Debt I believe - so US auths are hardly "without sin" to be throwing boulders at poor ole working man Rusty.

Tazed, just wondering as not a Shorting Expert !! Would the Shorters even be required to "return borrowed shares or need a liquid market" if DEC completely collapsed and fell to Zero, because the shares would then have no value ? The Shorters would already have their dosh from selling.

There's also the view re non-mgt employees that it's better not to own shares in your employer, better diversification, as you already have enough of a stake in the company being an employee, albeit Employee Share Schemes try to increase ones stake !!
