88v8, Zachs, fwiw, have DEC as a Buy. This is a LT hold for me and, though I'm down >50%, my current investment is c 2% of my pf so I can afford to be patient.

Ironically, it is not in the interests of State bodies to pressurise companies like DEC to plug too many of their wells because if the companies go bust the State would have even more 'orphan wells' to plug. So, I see the State bodies playing "an easy does it" strategy but pushing the companies to plug more at the same time. It would be a game changer if DEC or another came up with a materially cheaper efficient plugging method maybe using a cheaper material to cement and reducing the time and costs involved in assessing the wells being plugged.

There are definitely economies of scale gains to Randy's strategy, let's hope the high debt and risks of excessive hedging (missing better spot rates) don't outweigh those economies. There's also the expanding (?) ARO business. High risk but could work. See the US DEC ended down an extra c 2% to London, but Oil is also down.

Moniman, the irony is of course that many systems are falling apart. The drug gangs are winning with Nitazene (25 times stronger than Fentanyl which is about 50 times stronger than Heroine) now replacing Fentanyl at a rapid pace. Prisons are overflowing, whoever's fault it is, and avg full cost per prisoner p/yr of c £65,000 means that HMG's tax payers are losers as well as those imprisoned, latter may actually benefit through training and meal costs. All the Oilies need to be clear to HMG that they will not co-operate unless treated fairly on taxes and opportunities to optimise their investments. If they act en masse then HMG will have to take them seriously.

Tonynorstrom1, maybe DEC are doing things correctly, maybe Pine Cliff Energy are AROing too quickly. Similar business model to some extent maybe, but other variables like remaining resource in the unsealed wells, etc... may be materially different.

Confusing behaviour considering the ethics of leaking such a secret document (NHS official wouldn't even comment on it to Sky news) and the increasing spread of fentanyl, nitazene and other highly dangerous drugs against which the humble cigarette is harmless !! I am not a UK resident and admit that some of the actions being considered and taken by UK powers make me wonder are they all taking some sort of hallucinogen or opiod. The police can't even deal with 'laughing gas' offences, why not have on the spot fines of £100 as surely that would focus the mind ?!! And HMG expect a person of 30 years old in 2039 to have to present an ID to buy a packet of cigs..... Will they prohibit smoking at home next ? This is also amusing considering that some legal acts now exist that are prohibited, not that I am religious to be honest but believe that most of the lawmakers and Royal Family are Christian, by The Holy Bible, all in the name of keeping up with progress !!!

Auson, I believe Exxon much more than BP as latter BoD have their heads stuffed where there's no solar panelling but plenty of wind !! Had enough of those very high risk survive or fail types after my experiences with an Aim share that had a copper-coated mask protection against Covid in 2020/21 but couldn't get the masks produced and sold in time !! Simply couldn't make it up !!
