Market-Dealer, I'm a HOLDER not a Buyer of BP because I have enough invested in BP and other oilies, but opine a Strong Buy for those who don't own any or enough. Very doubtful that price will fall anywhere near 390p, as Summer moves on there'll be demand for the Winter heating, etc..., and IF BP's projections are correct then they are more invested in Renewables amd Low Carbons than most other big oil and gas cos.

Putin will not give up the territories he's taken to achieve peace because of his narcissistic ego and his image in Russia. Zelenskyy won't give up 15% of his country so there's a huge insurmountable gap for any peace talks. Would UK sacrifice 15% of its country to achieve temporary peace with a psychopath like Putin ?

SJN1, my very thoughts !! One or two supersonic missiles inro fxpo's mines, railway, connecting roads, etc.... and that's it. War being nearly over ? The China Belarus war drills next to Poland should remind NATO of why Ukraine needs to win, not give up 4 regions or 15% of its country. If the US walks away then we all in the West need to cough up more, otherwise it'll be another Sep 1939 !!

Smkr, I think Europe and UK would simply have to take up the slack if the US opted out of helping Ukraine. Otherwise Putin would run riot. Full NATO intervention or at least the threat thereof would also be another possibility. Why are NATO there at all if they aren't to defend Europe ?

Bertram, I'm no expert, but maybe your update of U6.1 didn't fully or correctly update ? If you can do it, or go to a repair shop if not, try to reverse your current download and then re download making sure your internet connection is sound. Can't do any extra damage surely ?

One could ague cynically that Labour's increase of taxes may actually assist their reduction in Net Immigration as more of those economically mobile move out of the UK along with the Oil and Gas companies !! Starmer had better bear this in mind !!

CR888, depends on your risk level and investment term for the % of your portfolio. BP is relatively cheap v SHEL, HBR should rise by Q4 when their takeover complete.

More risky, but down in price are WOSG, OCADO, SMWH. House Builders should do well under Labour but some better than others.

Warthog4, I don't think even the stupidest within the Labour cabinet would risk trying to become pension fund investors !! It's one thing us doing our own stock or investment picking, but risking being wrong with investing billions of pension money.... that would be a risk not worth taking certainly as Labour want another term after this one !!

jeffrey1979, starmer says he supports and will work with business !! is increasing the epl by 3% and removing incentive tax credits working with uk-sited oil and gas companies and risking the loss of c. 40,000 jobs in that industry ? i've read the possibility of the larger oilies, bp, shell, etc..., ****ibly taking hmg to court over the discriminatory aspect of the epl whilst oil and gas prices have retreated thus eliminating the very stated reason for having the epl ? i'm not a legal guru, but wonder could the oilies have a case. tobacco cos simply pass on their extra taxes, but oil and gas co prices are determined by market prices either hedged or actual so they cannot simply add on their extra taxes.

what are ye're views as i'd love to see a case being brought or, failing that, a mass exodus from the uk ? projects are already being delayed, why invest in loss making projects ? it's amazing that ed milliband and starmer don't understand even if they are desperate for finances !!

Hodgy2108, thought I'd look in here to just see the comments, excluding "Kick"'s as I've filtered him as he has been very abusive to me !! The takeover should complete by mid Q4 and looks like most are continuing to hold as the price is now creeping up again and maybe some others have bought simply to get the small 95% definite c. 4% return to when it completes. Just as well my investment here is only c 2% of my portfolio and many of my other shares have soared !!

Robina, if Labour really want more tax revenues, why not bring in a Super Income Tax for annual marginal incomes in excess of £5m p.a., maybe at 78% similar to the EPL on Oil and Gas companies ?!! There are plenty of prof sports people and business people in UK meeting tje £5m p.a. income level !!

Pernix, agree with you. Would a GS Sell recommendation really cause this much damage to Defence and Aerospace, surely the many many other brokers and funds out there, which are much larger in total than GS, can think for themselves ? BA. share price now down by c 10% from its highs.
