Yes, I would 100% agree with that SlowRoll - it is the ultimate insurance that all Governments should have kept up to date.

Presumably in the short term the Germans will be maximising their coal production, including lignite.

They really should have been much quicker to adopt renewables, instead of just becoming reliant on Russian gas.

Its quite a surprise that the country in Europe that has come the furthest with green politics should have led itself into such a wretched corner.

Shares finished the week on a high note in the US so it remains to be seen what impact events over the weekend will have on Monday.

One thing is for sure, the big financial story of the week will probably be the demise of the Russian Ruble - without the Russian central Bank able to access its overseas funds there will be no support - traders are already saying its lost 40% of its value against the dollar over the weekend.

Interesting times but brutal times.

So what's going to happen if the Russian Central Bank cannot access its overseas funds to shore up the Ruble?

Energy security is certainly important Ammu and its clear we need North Sea Oil - 100% agree.

But, to give us an even higher level of energy security we also need the renewables as well - especially wind power.

Expanding wind power capability also makes green hydrogen production more feasible - using the excess power generated when its not needed for the grid.

Another thing you need to consider is that North Sea Oil and North Sea Wind Power use the same service infrastructure and also share a workforce - one without the other would clearly be far less efficient and profitable, maybe not even viable.

I think that we can continue to put our full confidence in Ceres for the reasons you state.

However, we still have to be prepared for the SP to be floundering because of the macro, although there does seem to be a good chance now that tech stocks will rally and they could even outperform the rest of the market.

As for 2000p by the year end - that is I think wishful thinking because of the macro.

I was actually talking about John Lewis, they seem to be going through a very rough patch at the moment.

The truth is that most big company bosses and their staff would do things very differently and its often the staff who are more objective.

M&S management are I think more in tune at the moment, they are getting their act together on all levels, they do seem to have reinvigorated the business.

Nothing to worry about here - last trading update was positive.

SP is a dire reflection of many small caps on AIM over the last 12 months.

Just be patient and hold

Looking at my watch list it has certainly been the small caps that have suffered the worst during the last turbulent news week - they have all fallen back more and taken longer to start recovering than the larger cap shares on the FTSE and AIM.

I think its important to remember that this will always be the case and accept that its just part of the game and not to overreact by selling.

I would guess this is one of those situations when the staff and local management know exactly what they should be doing but senior management are totally out of touch - this leads to extreme discord and frustration, far from what the founders wanted, a business partnership with the staff.

Its irrelevant what both of us think about Hydrogen shares and their valuation, although I certainly agree that they are inclined to go massively overbought and valuations are bizarre.

The point is that traders do pile into Hydrogen - especially when they think they are good value - in rather in the same way as US investors flock to Apple and Tesla.

Actual rational investment decisions are not considered its all about gambling and mass participation.

Unfortunately for UK oil companies they don't have the same pull for traders at the moment, so they just get ignored.

Time will tell, but even before the invasion it did seem the tide was turning for tech shares and the shorts are certainly reducing. Hydrogen shareholders are also seeing the market opening for them on the back of high oil and gas prices.

As for Enquest it still has everything to prove both in terms of increasing production to guidance and debt reduction - you just have to pray that the next trading update is better.

US oil however, has everything to play for, they will be the swing supplier for oil and gas later this year and into 2023 - by manipulating supply to match demand they can keep oil and gas prices high for maximum return - I think savvy US investors realise this and are jumping aboard, hence the rising SP's.

I have noticed from other boards that the traders are now buying into hydrogen stocks again.
CWR for example up from yesterdays low of 481p to 629p on high value.

Consensus seems to be that tech stocks are back in favour because Ukraine situation will subdue inflation and reduce the need for interest rates to increase - all good for tech shares. Also tech shares are oversold and offer good value.

Please don't shoot the messenger but this could be a reason why oil stocks are down today - I was full expecting a big rise here today.

The net effect of the war in Ukraine will probably be that inflationary fears will be dampened reducing the need for increases in interest rates.
This is very good news for tech shares - note the strong rebound at CWR and ITM yesterday afternoon - EQT should benefit today with a strong rebound.

Looking better for a recovery today - growth and tech stocks look set to become flavour of the month again with strong gains on the NASDAQ - the Ukraine crisis is likely to calm down inflation and reduce the need for interest rates to be increased.

Onwards and upwards now - yesterday was the turning point - hopefully the charts will confirm that in the days ahead.
