Its now looking like tech shares will be the recovery story globally but traders will I think latch onto ENQ now and pull up the SP - all it needs is higher volume and SETS will do the rest, on the upside this time.

I think that in adversity there is a good chance that investors will now turn to tech shares as a safe investment, especially as most tech shares are oversold.

It seems the logical thing to do, especially with the good record most tech companies have in the market.

It was interesting that hydrogen shares led the recovery CWR and ITM were both badly down this morning but ended the day up over 7% and 9% respectively. Oil shares didn't fair that well at all.

OCDO also recovered well and hopefully will get a turbo boost if the shorts depart post haste.

You have to feel sorry for the Russian people as well - the BBC reporters found that the majority were against Putin and his "Kremlin War".

Hopefully, this is one time that sanctions will work and facing hardship the Russian people will rid the world of him.

The NASDAQ has bounced today - other indexes are still flat.
If you look at CWR and ITM they switched from being badly down this morning to strong gains this afternoon.
Hopefully EQT will follow them up tomorrow - we could see a big rebound?

Not sure about that Bufflehead - I think that share prices fall on low volume as well, particularly with small caps - hence the problems we have here when the news flow is slow or if their is a perceived problem, like the roof.

Looks like NASDAQ will fall into official Bear market territory today.

If the Russians do decide to invade Ukraine and just limit their invasion to the eastern sector of the country they could gain victory very quickly.
Looking at a map, there is a wide river dividing the country along the east-west border with just a few bridges over it.
With overwhelming force and air superiority it will be easy for them to take control of all the territory south and east of the river apart from the capital in the far north that straddles the river.

An escalated war in Ukraine certainly wouldn't benefit the oil industry in the longer term.

True, you might see Brent at $125 for a short time but there is a fragile balance between supply and demand. Anything that damages that balance and reduces demand will cause Brent to fall back significantly. Brent at $125 would certainly affect demand.

We are only seeing strong support at the moment because energy prices are high - politicians are covering their backs as always - in another few years the policy could be totally different and even worst with a change of Government.

Anyway, I was talking about what would be a better outcome for investors, other than perpetuating the circle of regular fund raising, poor SP performance and no shareholder reward.

You are missing my point - what I am saying is optimise existing fields over the next ten years but don't develop new ones.

Then gradually run the business down as fields deplete and decommissioning is carried out.

Without the capital spend needed to develop new fields there would be no need to issue more equity and profits could go to shareholders as dividends as the company wound down.

An orderly rundown would probably be a good option for most oil companies over the next 10 years or so, including Enquest.

First pay off debt - use CAPEX just to optimise existing assets and decommissioning - then simply pay out profits as dividends to shareholders until there is nothing left.

ITX is not alone, most small caps on AIM have been badly market down today, its just that with thin volume ITX always seems to come off worst and takes longer to recover.

I don't think SETSqx trading does small caps any favours at all, its meant to be more flexible than SETS because MM's do have some input but I am not sure that works.
