They are vilified now but with their financial muscle and global coverage they will provide market led solutions to combat climate change.

BP have said this morning that they plan to devout 40% of their CAPEX to transition growth businesses by 2025.

The world economy has now reached a point where to sustain our power supplies at an affordable level it is imperative that new investment is provided and we have a golden opportunity to develop renewables to fill the void.

The reason for this is that capital spending on carbon fuel exploration and development has fallen back dramatically due to climate change worries and lack of willing investors, compounded by the pandemic and fall in oil and gas prices in 2020.

So, its fantastic news that companies like BP are using their capital spend on transition tech - maybe by tweaking the tax regime they could be persuaded to spend more.

Ocado may give the overall impression that they are poor performing but in actual fact its their investment in new tech, both development and R&D that affects shareholder returns while the global roll out continues.

In actual fact these developments are massively positive for Ocado Retail and M&S, especially the new tech that was unveiled a couple of weeks ago. This new tech will enable a far quicker roll out of CFC's at a much reduced capital cost .

Shorts were at 11.04% at the end of January, so they certainly rule the roost at the moment.

Yes, Ocado's SP will certainly recover and move strongly up at some stage, but we still have to endure current market conditions and this strongly overrides all the good news company wise.
