All change has to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary and the movement to renewables is no different.
Rather than expecting hydrogen power to suddenly take over from carbon fuels, we have to accept that what is achievable must be acted on first and the rest will follow if it is viable.
The first step in the UK, I think, is to use the excess power generated by renewables that isn't required by the electric grid to produce green hydrogen and then to use this hydrogen to power heavy industry via localised gas grids. I include green hydrogen generated by waste in this equation.
After that there is certainly a case for adding green hydrogen to the gas grid in small percentages but beyond that is probably fantasy.
