SGC being bought heavily on the dips today - after that trading update more broker upgrades are coming down the pipe, as sure as night follows day - one pound plus is coming very soon IMO

Nige - Marshall opened up their short position at 0.5pct at around 104p - so they are taking a hell of a beating on that - I would like to see ITV add on some more which I think is likely given the exit from the pandemic and more advertising spend as a consequence of companies making a big push for growth - at 140p I think Marshall would have to call it a day

Deutsche Bank raised SGC to 98p yesterday and now this from RBC

HAS to go north of a pound soon boys and girls - Just a matter of time now - in the meantime just sit back if you are a shareholder and count the money coming in

This is the bottom line here for JL - In the 12-month period to 25 January 2020, the John Lewis Partnership generated revenues of £10,151m, profit of £146m with net debt at £2,451m (2019, £2,682m) - when a company is run on this basis there is only one way it is going to go - JL took their eye off the ball with regards to the increment of online vs in store and are now paying for it big time - rather like the violin players on the Titanic they played on and ignored the disaster that was fast approaching - I am sad for all the staff that will lose their jobs but this could and should have been avoided if management had acted earlier instead of just waiting for the inevitable to happen.

Correct Poker but I would say older people will not want to buy big ticket items online and WILL want to shop in JL - not sure of the demographics here but most of the people I see shopping in JL are 50 plus - these are the people JL will lose out on - the pandemic is a temporary measure and people will return to the shops - maybe not the young but the older people definitely will imo.

JL is basically doing what Marks did over a year ago - headed by Sharon White who virtually destroyed BT - She only knows one way to manage and that is with a sledgehammer and no forward thinking - big mistake by JL IMO - People don't want to and never will want to buy light fittings, sofas furnishings and big ticket items online they want to inspect them first hand -

MKS now have a sub brand like per una called Jack and Jones - it seems to be pitched at young men around 21 from what I can see on the website - I think this may be a mistake - they tried this years ago and it was a disaster - young men and young women will not shop for clothes at the same shop as their mum's and dad's - I will be surprised, no shocked if this works - share price heading below 150p - still think MKS is a great buy but they need to concentrate on their CORE customers - people 40 and over IMO

Correct Fleccy it is a good read - once it has been thoroughly digested by the brokers I expect a series of upgrades to the BT price target pdq

There is a reason imo - National Express results today - good but profit taking is pushing that share price down - sentiment dictates atm so that is rubbing off on SGC - Still can't see this going below 90p, if it does I will top up my holding as before
