I am bullish on UK prospects going forward HallI - we will have vaccinated the whole of the UK while the EU is still scratching its arse - this in itself should bring in business to UK PLC - CTTP and a trade deal with the US are on the cards as the only way for countries to get out of the CV mess now is to literally grow their way out through and a solid telecom set up for business is key to underpinning this, so massive expansion/funding is on the cards for telecoms imo - agree with Toff re Germany and VOD on the DAX but it is what it is - sooner or later value and dividends will be king as funds seek guarantees for the future - lets see

Profits coming in with a rise of 0.4% which is a beat on analysts expectations for a fall of 0.1% - VOD look cheap to me and I expect a rise today, having said that the trend atm is to sell down on virtually any results - I will be adding to my holding if this happens today.

I am just wondering if a potential suitor will wait until the results are out on the 5th March , in that way they will have a snapshot of exactly how well the business is performing before committing ? what do you reckon guys?

I can't see MKS going down much more regardless of the sell off in the states - money is now starting to move away from high flying tech stocks as fund managers look to reposition towards value and recovery stocks - MKS is one of them, along with many other UK stocks which are dirt cheap on most metrics - let's see

Agree with your point here Fleccy and noted re other industries doing the same - I would think if this goes against BT then a precedence will be set by the Competition Appeal Tribunal ruling that will affect not only other telecoms companies but the whole of retail - Competition Appeal Tribunal need to be very careful here - in terms of the situation the UK is currently in with companies trying to crawl their way from the point of going under, this will finish a lot of them off - that means more job losses, - the last thing the UK needs right now.

Grayling - plenty of people I know shop for clothes in MKS and I consider myself as middle aged - even my kids by MKS underwear ffs - MKS has 40pct of the bra market in the UK and alongside Primark sells more jeans than anyone else - these are staple items and quality produce, that is why they sell in great numbers - to answer your question "so what market are they chasing exactly?" - I agree with Chitling - the staple products that everyone needs - that is what they are good at and and need to expand on -

MKS should not be trying to compete for the age bracket Boohoo and Asos are competing for and tbf I don't think they are - kids in the 18-25 bracket will never buy anything from MKS apart from food because their Mum and Dad shop there for clothes - simple as that - MKS are competing against John Lewis and Next imo

Agree re expansion of Ocado that is a no brainer - disagree on clothes - MKS cannot compete with Boohoo/Asos - two reasons one is retail overheads of high street shops which Boohoo/Asos doesn't have and two is clothing quality -MKS far better - Boohoo/Asos is basically just tat, throwaway items for kids - I know because my kids wear it!! - MKS addressing this by closing non profitable high street stores - I have bought clothes from NEXT and imo they are not as good quality as MKS and MKS still the biggest seller of jeans in the UK as far as I am aware so they must be doing something right - not convinced with the Jaeger takeover time will tell, at least they didn't include their shops in the purchase thank goodness
