Agree with Chilting here, not many people with cars want to burn petrol at current prices driving to get shopping and driving home again, apart from the fact that your time can be spent more constructively doing other things, you are simply wasting money - Ocado free delivery atm will clean up here and Marks will benefit - I am looking to add on further weakness

It is disconcerting to see such a huge reversal - I have been in this situation many times with different stocks and indeed I am now underwater on this stock after a 245p buy - it is very tempting to sell out but I have seen this play out many times - the big institutions tree shake out the PI and then mop up down the line - the share is trading well below what it was before the vaccine for the pandemic was established and way way below its price before the pandemic started, - I will admit that inflationary headwinds/the war etc have had some impact but the fundamentals of the company remain sound - I will continue to add on weakness -

Decided to sell the majority of my Ocado stake this morning - I don't usually do this with shares, I tend to add and accumulate over a 3 year minimum period, but having bought in at just over 7 quid that is a good profit which I am happy with - the volatility with this share is just too high for me right now and with inflation figures in the US coming down the pipe I will sit on the side for now and wait for another buy in opportunity

I think a buy out depends on market sentiment Jtan, - PE look to buy when forward results have been assured/dividends returning both of which have been confirmed today - they also look at macro/micro economic forecasts which are mixed atm - if there is any sign that we are not going into a recession and growth is set to resume, that is when PE will make a bid imo

I also got caught out here Jtan, I think it was a last minute trading update to reassure markets by stating profits remain on course but has an adverse affect! - 7pct - where are you going to make anywhere near this sort of profit in this market AND the divi being reintroduced- as I said, I am looking to add - if this keeps falling it will go the way of SGC IMO

Happy with the results under current circumstances and a return to dividends, always good - shares will be hammered and I will look to add on weakness

Jaeger has been a big plus Chilting for sure, but for me the main driver for women buying more clothes from Marks is placing their stock next to Hobbs, Sosander, etc which are more upmarket - woman are seeing that there is not a huge amount of difference in terms of quality and as money gets tighter, opting for Marks clothes instead - I have seen this play out myself with Mrs C who only buys food in Marks but never buys their clothes as she prefers more upmarket retailers - she has recently bought two tops and two dresses as she is trying to reduce her monthly spend but still wants to buy quality - I think this trend will continue and Marks will increase its market share in this area going forward.

Good to see this Neil and conclusive proof that MKS have definitely turned the corner on female clothing - it was the only thing holding them back but now it is sorted I can see great things for MKS going forward - if we can get on top of macro/micro economic issues I see no reason why this should not go well over 200p and with a bid always on the cards what's not to like - a good long weekend to you matey

Nielson report this morning "NielsenIQ said over the 12 weeks to May 21, total sales fell 1.7% year-on-year, with market leader Tesco, Marks & Spencer, German-owned discounters Aldi and Lidl and the Co-operative all gaining market share. (Reporting by James Davey; Editing by Bernadette Baum)" - the fact that MKS is STILL gaining market share augers well for MKS going forward

Boyo - with Autostore - once a legal precedence has been established which it has in the US - that makes it very difficult to get anything patent wise overturned, - with share price direction I tend to look at what is happening right now with Ocado rather than speculating on what may/may not happen down the line - the latest we have is the set of results from Marks in which they were fully behind Ocado expansion - it is telling that they are committed to this in an inflationary/uncertain environment - that tells me all I need to know

Mr P - thanks for that - I said and reiterated on this board sometime ago that the corner would be turned for MKS once they got a handle on woman's wear - I think this article is the beginning of something really good for MKS - woman's wear has always held them back in the past as they were basically very good at everything else, but no more can this stick be used to beat MKS with - I am going to stick my neck out here and say that if there is any sign any sign at all that the world economy is not going into recession and MKS is still trading below 2 quid it will be bid for no question - everything is in place for a bid, good growth prospects, clothing and food firing on all cylinders, very little debt - it is begging to be taken out
