from my understanding the vaccines developed at the time of delta had little effect with omicron - just as anybody who caught delta variant did not seem to have much immunity against omicron. we were lucky that the later mutations though more transmissible were less severe - as is often the case with viruses.

i suspect boris realised he could not afford more lockdowns and the testing was expensive. the other issue with mass testing is that the figures are very visible and then there is pressure for more serious measures. so by cutting testing it is a win win situation for him.

personally i think it is dangerous not to test when symptoms or going to popular events - as if there is a new variant it will could become widespread before we know about it. also if a more severe variant arrives it will take time for people to get tests and get back into the routine

it is difficult to see how much income will come from covid tests in the future. the company has given us their expectations and made it clear that they need to increase other non covid sources of income going forward. we therefore need to assume the oncome will decline. of course if covid gets worse or there is another pandemic then i believe NCYT are perfectly poised. they have shown the flexibility to strike quickly and decisively. they will have learnt much over the last two years

prior to covid they were a company with a relatively modest income. covid enabled them to play at the bigger boy table. the question is do they have the chips to carry on or is it going to go back to what it was? if so the SP will reflect this. at the moment we seem mostly propped up by the cash in bank.

ncyt seem to have good brains behind the scientific side of things. now the word salad guy has to show that his marketing strategies are up to scratch too. he needs to show he can generate enough everyday diagnostic business and not be waiting for the next disaster.

trader - i was stupid. kept making excuses (director sells / delay in test approvals etc ) probably similar to those doing so now - waiting for news on this and that..
my instinct told me to get out after the disrespectful tesla tweet....but we had dropped so much and were surely so close to the gov deal.

it has dropped so much that if i sell it is bound to go up and i will have missed out etc. i also thought that they would be able to sell if they got CE mark - when it was clear in hindsight that they were never going to

my mistake was not looking enough at the history of the company and the directors. i fell for the gov contract because a) i thought it was nailed on b) as an endorsement as the gov would not deal with shysters.

anyway it has been a huge learning lesson for me - and i will follow odx to see what more i can learn....

you make an interesting post - i think we are heading for the mother of all recessions. we should have had one from covid but some how seemed to escape it...ukraine is the black swan event and the cost of the war and sanctions and repair when / should it end will be happily paid for by the west's govts (or should i say public taxes) whilst they posture about being saviours. at a time when the average person will have rocketing fuel and cost of living prices.

i think anyone new to odx should note that the most researched and coherent arguments are those critical of the company. their rarely seems any reasonable debate by the positive holders other than it has dropped so much it must be cheap now...load up and choo choo. well it could rise from these prices but every time it does the flippers will be desperate to offload all their new placing shares for a quick profit. if you do get a rise of 10-15% my advice would be sell quick and buy back shortly cheaper - that is if you believe in odx and want a long term hold

the bod want you to believe they are now incentivised and fully aligned to SH with the award of their masses of new free potential shares - something which should already be a given considering that is their very well paid job

at some point i feel odx will have to come out with a new product - to enable future placings. it seems that is what they have been doing for 30 years...i really do not see how the current management are going to make a go of food intolerance test in usa. it is a good test and an exciting market - but odx have shown themselves incapable of selling the last cold beer in the desert....so what will change?

the issue is that the bod are running out of "jam " to sell SH
with only one line of product left it is not going to be easy to disguise lack of sales.

i am sure they will start to pump the share again - they will want the placees to earn coin - to enable them to raise again.
just not sure how successful it will be. any rise will obviously be heavily sold into as well

unfortunately it would seem the gov disagree. i suspect they don't want testing because they really want to know the extent . as long as deaths stay low i think most people will get less bothered

i suspect the more people get omicron will result in more natural immunity - so unless another severe variant comes along things hopefully won't get out of hand.

exactly...i have been slated on here but all i have done is comment on what has happened in the ski slop crash of an SP. there have not been any positives for a year now - since we were told last summer about the fast track for CE mark. since then it has been bad news after bad news

no one ever offers a decent argument against what i have posted - which suggests to me some kind of blind hope/faith thing going on. bizarre that the more money they lose (on paper) the more they seem to blame me? not the company itself?...lol

supposed to be 10 million different species of insects? it might be helpful if the word salad guy clearly promoted which ones they were focusing /considering in their tests? eg we are going for mosquito carried viruses etc etc..something definite that people can decide if it is a worthwhile chunk of the £156m global market

the reality is that the deaths around the world from covid are dramatically decreased....hence testing is decreasing.
countries can't afford to go through lockdowns or pay for testing for something that is a lot milder relative to the initial strains. individuals won't want to pay for tests on top of the rising prices that are coming thanks to the ukraine invasion and sanctions etc. i travelled on the tube and rail today and hardly any one wearing masks

i agree with byp and i suspect nyct knows that that bubble has burst as well - further to another more serious variant emerging. much as i would like my paper losses reduced i don't want to go through another serious pandemic .

really no point in promoting links for covid - if that is what you are betting on then ......maybe time to reconsider

i still hold because ncyt have great research and a pot of cash...i still think they have a good case against dhsc.
i am worried that bio seemed to have lost interest after DA's word salad presentation. he needs to really start delivering. we need more meat than salad!

the company need to move forward. choose the areas from their graph which are the most attractive / lucrative and get the specific tests launched. start promoting so that when people think ncyt they think of particular tests - in that way they can grab a larger piece of that pie globally.

don't get distracted by non lucrative areas eg insect thingy. a global market of £156m? ok lets assume they can grab 5% of the global pie - that is £8m...nice but could that time and effort be used elsewhere more profitably?

they had identified it as the least attractive bubble on their graph so i am a little bemused on why they are going for it?
the diagnostic industry is worth billions - lets get some of that global pie of the lucrative stuff.
start marketing it clearly and simply and lets make some cash

or be happy posts links to tata /linkedin / covid / monkey pox etc

Aim is generally rubbish...lots of lifestyle companies and those taking a gamble that often doesn't pay off.

What is extraordinary is a company with a good portfolio...and both antigen and antibody tests in a pandemic that can't sell ANYTHING in substantial amounts.

You could understand a mine or oil drill that fails..but ffs.
This lot even had the chance of a gov contract but could not read it properly.
