Fleet now we know3 Aug 2021 13:35
So, as many here hoped Fleet numbers were better than those expected from those of us tracking mileage.
Paul did give a clue with strong Q4 statement, but nice to finally see some numbers.
So clearly for the trackers to have been wrong, the average mileage per vehicle traveled per day has reduced, as sales have increased.
This could be a result of covid in some way, but more likely the mix of vehicles we are selling into has changed, to stuff that does shorter runs, and is more localized.
Buses would be a good example of a vehicle that does much lower mileage, than the long distance trucks.
So given that the early wins were mainly long distance lorries in Australia, it shouldn't be a great surprise that mileage averages have come down re our current install base.
I've updated my tracking spreadsheet to mirror this latest data point, and changed the mileage per day per vehicle from 310KM to 291KM.
Very likely this will continue to come down slightly, and therefore estimates will continue to be conservative going forward.
However I'll live with that.
Anecdotally, was speaking to a friend who is a bus driver in London and I asked about what the situation, was re installation of our software etc.
His reply was if you mean the thing that shakes the drivers seat, if you fall a sleep, its in all the new buses.
Would suggest that they are currently rolling it out whenever they replace a bus.
In many ways that makes sense, as a cost effective way to roll it out, and not incurring massive costs in one go.
Nice update today
