Athansius, respectfully investing means allocating money for the long-term. 9 months is not long-term. Anything less than say 3-5 years and SP is more a reflection of variables outside of a company's control than anything else. If people have complaints about specific aspects of how a company operates that's one thing but in the short-term that is an entirely separate issue to SP.

I wonder if those who use the term snowflake are aware what it was originally used to mean. You'll have to look back to the 1800's and the civil war.

Nothing's impossible but I'm just not convinced it would be an either or scenario. Besides, for all ilika's calling the gov to focus on the domestic supply chain, ilika's plan to license out manufacturing at the giga scale presumably means that in the long-term a sizeable chunk of the manufacturing will end up being carried out in facilities on other shores, actually making them less reliant on a UK supply chain than those that plan on manufacturing at scale domestically. That's one of the reasons I'm positive on ilika, I like the licensing business model. It's really not an accident that Monica Biddulph is on the BOD given her experience at ARM.

Here's another way to look at it, more uk companies getting involved in the nascent ssb sector should lead to more chance of a decent domestic supply chain being established, which will benefit ilika.

Competition isn't a bad thing lejlo. If you're worried about who gets to market first I'd just note that ilika are already 3 years down the line and have a clear plan. Besides, what's to say that this consortium couldn't mass produce Goliath, after all ilika don't intend on manufacturing at the giga scale but rather licensing their tech out for others to manufacture at mass.

I'm genuinely surprised that anyone is still pursuing hydrogen cars, it strikes me as sunk cost fallacy. Compared to battery powered there is no business case. The battery cost curve has already reduced massively thanks to all the advancements brought about through the rise of smartphones and alike and it will only continue to improve. Come the end of the decade we should also be starting to see steady state tech making inroads which will improve range further (double the energy density effectively doubles the mileage) and lower charge time to <15mins

The only thing AN has mentioned about being bought out is that they have no interest in selling as they want to build the company long term. He's also specifically stated that angle's II's are very supportive of them building long-term as they understand the opportunity before them. Of course, II's can change their mind like the wind but I'm hopeful they won't.

That said, I think the line of thought about how history can be rewritten is a strawman argument.

The best we can aim for at any point in time is objective knowledge and no tools have better enabled our ability to pursue objective knowledge than science and reasoned debate.

Thompi, no one has a crystal ball and 20-20 hindsight is a wonderful thing. Give it a while and if everything goes as people think it will then 139 will look like a bargain.

I'm not remotely interested in Angle selling out. We need to start accepting risk and uncertainty and building up world leading companies, not just selling them off asap for short-term gain and someone else's much more substantial long term benefit.
