As for supper. for those concerned about animal welfare, my earlier post was intended as a joke. I actually had egg, chips, bacon and baked beans for supper, Very nice too. Although the giraffe semen was real, obvs.

Yep. Gains today are one thing - holding to them tomorrow another thing entirely. Tempted to sell a chunk with a view to buying back tomorrow if the price falls. However, I will probably just stick with what I have.

Beginning to look like we may hold this small gain into the close, which would be nice. Will have to celebrate with a special meal -
Roast pangolin scrotum, followed by pan-fried rhinoceros colon, accompanied by steamed panda eyes. All washed down with a glass of giraffe semen. Delicious.

Woody/fordm - I see you have both had a dig at our politicians earlier, and I have to concur. I am utterly sick of the drivel that they consistently vomit out. Every time I see one of them (no matter which party) on the TV, I just have to switch off or turn over before I have some cardiac-related seizure. Literally don't want to hear one more word out of their mouths. About anything. Ever.
fordm - "Taxation is fine. Misuse of said taxes are the problem". Spot on. If OUR money was spent more responsibly/frugally, a lot of our problems could be eradicated.
PS - let's hope we can hold on to this (miniscule) gain, and not see the now traditional post lunch slide.
PPS - for those interested, life in my lockdown bunker is going swimmingly, although the vodka does seem to be reducing rather quickly. May have to introduce rationing.
PPPS - think I may move to Norway. Been several times - beautiful place, fabulous people. A small hut overlooking a fjord would do me fine. Also, they seem to have a better class of politician, and have certainly made a better job of handling their finances.

I already have Jtan. Currently sat in my (locked) basement, wearing 2 surgical style masks, and a tinfoil hat. Got 10 cubic litres of hand sanitiser, 2000 tins of baked beans, plenty of water, and 300 rolls of (three-ply) toilet paper. Plus 2000 cans of Stella, and 100 bottles of Smirnoff (sorry Ukraine).
Reckon I'm good until September. May have to emerge briefly at that point to restock in time for the autumn/winter Covid/flu/nasty cold lockdown. That's assuming that there hasn't been a nuclear armageddon in the interim.

Recent history would suggest a small rise tomorrow, followed by another drop. You would think that with things apparently being so predictable, I could make a packet day trading. Unfortunately, I know that if I buy into that premise, the parameters will immediately shift.

Actually, that Groundhog analogy goes way beyond the share price here, it could also apply to -
a) The news coverage around partygate/beergate
b) The news coverage of a "deadly" virus that may well kill us all.
c) An impending economic catastrophe.
d) An impending climate catastrophe.
e) Politicians evading questions, and treating us like imbeciles.
etc. etc.....

Welcome to Punxsutawney fordm. On the plus side, it means I can behave any way I want today, and consume whatever I please, without any consequences for tomorrow. I could get used to that.

Can I also just say that I find the term "snowflake" offensive. A genuine snowflake - the physical kind - is a thing of quite extraordinary, and delicate, beauty. A "snowflake" - as in someone displaying certain pathetic characteristics - is nothing but a pain in the arse, and a drain on the whole of society.

woody - " is it just me that thinks we live in a country of bed wetters". No, you are not alone. This (once great) country used to be known for its stiff upper lip, and good manners. Sadly, both those things have now perished.
Pottytime - just to let you know that I have taken your advice, and have suspended all simian related activity for the foreseeable future. Hopefully things will return to normal before too long.
