Hope you are right sund - after yesterdays rise, I was tempted to sell at least some, in anticipation of a retrace. However, as you point out, this can, and occasionally has, risen very quickly - so I'm not risking missing out on that just for the (possible) chance of buying back in 1 or 2 pence cheaper.

Looking at the charts since the start of the year, UAL is plus 16% and AAL is plus 12%, while on this side of the pond, IAG is down about 5.2% and EZJ down about 5.7%.. If we were on a rough par with the US, IAG would now be £1.80 ish. Very frustrating.

jtan - WAKE UP!!

US airlines well up overnight - United and American are now both back to higher than they were at the beginning of the year. Meanwhile IAG and EZJ are still way down over the same period - very frustrating.
PS - quiet on this board lately - looks like bb has emigrated to POLYwood, no doubt attracted by the sunshine, bright lights and dancing girls.

jtan - thanks for the response, and a good thoughtful post that I entirely agree with. My occasional posts on this board are the nearest I get to social media ( I don't even have a smartphone), but I have resolved to watch less news on television - as you say, it kind of sucks you in, and can be all-consuming. The 24 hour rolling news world we live in now is not healthy, and constantly has to feed itself in order to justify its' existence. And as you say, it's all about control - if politicians weren't constantly "saving" us from something, we might question if we needed so many.
Anyway, time to get off my soapbox - the sun is out, so I'm going to make the most of it. Let's hope we both profit here over the coming months (and all other holders, obvs.) Cheers.

sundezena - I hope you are right. Looking back at the charts for the last year, I see that in the last 7 months alone there have been 3 occasions when the price rose sharply in just a few weeks -
Sep '21 - 35% in less than 2 weeks
Dec '21 - Jan'22 - 26% in about 4 weeks
Mar '22 - 25% in less than 2 weeks.
So let's hope we are now in the foothills of another sharp rise. Just hope that Putin doesn't completely screw it up by doing something bonkers like using a nuclear strike in Ukraine. God knows what he is capable of.
Even if that doesn't happen ( which would render the price of shares meaningless). the events of the last few years doesn't fill me with confidence. It's just been one thing after another for a long time now, bad news followed by more bad news. If Putin were to drop dead tomorrow (fingers crossed) I would expect some other cataclysmic news within a day or two - an asteroid strike possibly, or maybe just a plague of locusts.
Anyway, time will tell - either way, it will be interesting to see where we are by the end of summer.

This is up by 10 pence since yesterday morning, which should be very encouraging. MyLuck - you might want to check your own spelling/ grammar before commenting on someone else's. 'Pootin' is obviously a deliberate misspelling - not so sure about your use of 'Propels' - is that a deliberate misspelling of 'people'? Don't start me on your excessive use of full stops, or complete disregard for commas. As for the hairy bush - I think you will find that depilation is predominant these days. Apologies for being excessively pedantic, but I am somewhat bored today.

Another Sunday, and yet again wondering what the week will bring regards IAG, and hoping for something good. Deja vu all over again. What's that quote about the definition of insanity being repeating the same actions, but expecting a different outcome? If that's correct, I am stone cold bonkers.
Still, at the start of the year, the price here rose by 20p in a week, so there's always the chance of that reoccurring. Isn't there? It's the hope that kills you.
PS - no booze today - going on diet ready for summer - my mankini (leopard-print) is a little too snug just now.

Time for tea and biscuit ( shortbread). Even as I type, the reasonably bright start seems to have given way (yet again) to a slow decline. Depressing. May have to replace tea and biscuits with vodka and Pringles. A little too early now though.

Oracle - you are correct - the world has gone bonkers. Unfortunately, so have you. Do you seriously think that people wearing masks on a flight (taking them off when they eat or drink) makes a blind bit of difference? If you want to wear a mask - fill your boots, but all they do is spread unnecessary fear. If you are particularly old or vulnerable (you probably aren't) don't travel. Have you been vaccinated? You probably have more chance of dying in an actual plane crash. What are you are afraid of - catching a a cold? "Bonkers" is about right.

Up 2 pence in an hour - I'm rich I tell you - rich! Currently filling my bathtub with Dom Perignon. and opening my Waitrose digestives ready to dunk in it. Foie gras, truffles, and seared baby dolphin foreskins for supper. Sorted.

Like a lot of people on this board, I am finding being in this share incredibly frustrating at the moment. The FTSE100 is now back above where it was prior to the invasion of Ukraine, yet between this and my other holdings, I am way down - IAG is down about 20% ffs. I have considered jumping ship, but decided against it. Basically, with us hovering here at about £1.40, I see more upside than downside - are we more likely to drop to £1.15, or rise to £1.65? I think (hope)the latter is more likely, so for now I am going to sit tight.
PS - fordm - I see you saying that you get a bonus of between 15% and 30% of your salary. That explains how you can afford your bacchanalian lifestyle of koi ponds/ swimming pools, and upmarket European biscuits. Are you Rishi Sunak in disguise?
