You are a casino investor I takeit, all macho about being the buyer at the lowest point and the seller at the highest point. Trophies, medals, accolades galore! Good luck on that but many casino investors end up losing most of their money at some point. The entry point is irrelevant as long as the exit point is higher. The security that the exit point is going to be higher is the key. I havn't 'missed' any buying opportunity, I can but at any point I wish. It is nice to have a wide spread between buy and sell and every now an then that does happen. I have a stratergy and I am watching key information channels to decide whether there will be a longer term trend up or down. I could be locked in for 6 months on a general climb that may start next week. Or I may delay buying in by 6 weeks becasue a general decline emerges.

This is the alt politics using the pandemic to try and implement new social agendas. The pressure on the center and center right of politics that they are bad by default means the argument against this new wave of socialisim is not heard often and difficult for the likes of the tories to avoid - hence the bizzare statements along the same lines from certain tories.

Exit form the pandemic is likely to be a messy affair stretched out over too long a time scale I fear.

My experience in politics could indicate that Sean Doyle believes he is so important that he would be invited in to advanced discussions instead of any other boss of an airline. It is always a problem people thinking they should be involved and find they are not.

The government also gets very carefull about sending out market sensitive signals. We have moved on from the Blair days of wink wink and a nod so all the new labour lackys could make a quick buck on the markets - and many did!

At the end of the day, there is no plan to announce and as the experience from last year shows, making a plan could backfire big time. So industries like travel will have to wait for direct signal which may beon the 22nd, or 6 months latter. The government knows what it will have to do by way of financial support if the delay is long. I expect conditional travel to 'emerge' as vacc passports and self-isolation requirements or examined. But there are bit negatives against that as I've mentioned from the political sphere to be wary of.

The issue sunsurfer is on the return leg. IF, big if hence capitals, say Greece said come on and all no test pre-flight required and this xyz vacc passport is reconised even if you have had only one UK dose then enjoy the two weeks in the sun.

No coming home. The UK could be asking for a negative test two weeks before travel (i.e. before you set off which is nuts) or make a shorter test dat, say seven days (so shorter breaks will also be testing before they leave the UK). As that arrangment is stupid, the UK could insist on self-isolation for 2 weeks which will just be impossible for most and overall significantly restricts the ability to travel on a whim. The UK government may not recognise it's own vaccination scheme. This is why the system MUST be two way. It is no good the government saying they will cooperate with other countries' vacc passport requirements, it is meaningless if it is not recognised on return. Pre-travel testing must be withdrawn and the vacc passport must be recognised on both legs so no quarantining is required on the return.
Because there is a political war going on at the moment, we might end up with a half-way house which more or less restricts the full freedom as it is today.

Note that there isn't a counter petition yet, but the fact this has already passed 100,000 showes there is quite an organised lockdown movement inside and outside government and organised groups. These people could possibly have a dramtic influence on poicies that lead to persistent travel barriers.

This is why the politics of this over the next week will be very important. I will be bookmarking this petition page to see the formal response which might come before the road map allowing an early indication of which way the pendulum will swing.

It is very embarrasing but our great saviour Blair is for once pushing a policy from his alternative government that I do agree with:- the single international vacc passport. With President Blair setting out the stall for debate next week, the anti-lockdown groups all setting out thier stall, next week will be a rough ride of swings and roundabouts as the lockdown v anti-lockdown battle it out to dominate the bozo's road map. My money is on the anti-lockdown winning the argument and as this is a face-saver issue with people like PP, I expect resignations at the end of the week.

Quick look at CEY, looks stable and forecasts coming true in actual results. Big issue with their main mine Sukari which is being worked through. To me, high risk as land slipes in open cast mining can result in significant work to remedy. Not being a geologist I don't know how soon they have intervened. Looking a little wider there are reviews on going with Africa to report towards end of H1 and Sukari development plan end of 2021. For a day trader, I suppose there will be a lot churn as people try to second guess and react to any scrap of info. Perhaps one to look again at in May/June to see what the mood music is for Africa review and progress updates on the remedial work at Sukari. Over 3years the present sp is in the general zone except of course for the May to Sept rise. I don't see any reason for a return to 200+ even after all the remedial work, possibly the 150 area with good Africa results and good remedial work at Sukari this time 2022. But 5-10% swings may be the order of the day for the next 5 months, if you can surf each wave great. Not for me these days.

Hold very few, don't play this like I once did because I found myself completely distracted by it. My 'out' policy is about being covered should a lock in situation occur. I have dry powder and should there be a big drop, then I could jump in with the intention of taking a small profit. If I go in when I think it bottoms out, but find it was the top of big dip, then I will not be cutting losses. So I may well jump in at any time, whether it is right at the bottom or not is not an issue for me on this one. By Sept-Nov I will have cashed in well above 200 or be looking fro the sell.

Bear in mind though, if vacc passports are acceptable, who then has the freedom to travel? Only the most vunerable will have been vacced before the summer holidays and wrt them they do not make up much of the travel market and especially long haul. It will be late in the season before the over 50s are vacced in general but that group do have the resources and more likley the freedom to travel. So the alternative to open up the market to everyone is to allow people to buy a private vacc. And here in lies a big political problem. The ethics of one person being able to buy health care against someone not able to. Like it or not, to have any sizable customer base those who want to travel will need access to a private vacc. And for the political debate the chest beaters [including in the media] will 'fight like hell' to stop private vaccs. Then, the second major issue is whether one jab will be considered as being vacced and if a delayed dose is also accepted as vacced by the various vacc passport schemes. On the second point it does seem there is no publically voiced problems with that from US et all. So for me I am not yet back in, on this one the eventual up side is so big that being clever clever and buying in at the absolute minimum is not the issue, for me it is being prepared to be locked in to ride out the worst case scenario where the eventual opening up is delayed all the way to Septemeber. The big take of in SP will only take place once pre trip testing and self-isolation/quarantining is removed. 'till then I think there will be some much bigger swings that seen so far. As I posted before, those German Christmas markets will be very popular this year - it might be the first time people have a chance to fly freely.

No, bailed a week or so ago, been watching and waiting to try and read the chicken bones to re-enter. I was estimating going back in again around wed thurs next week. I avoid last min rallies on Fridays too. Got locked in in Jan so if going back in this time prepared for being locked in 1 - 6 months. As long as I am back in ahead of the inevitable big big rise then everything is good, whether that is 150 or 160 . Selling at 200+ from those levels is good enough.

That will be the reason for marking up the price to the end as mm look to balance books.
