So amber list travel with two jabs and no quarantine is dependant on being able to recognise the rest of the world proof of vacc systems? So we are denied quarantine free travel because the states has a mish-mash off registration systems and some countries don't have proper record keeping. Solution is very simple. Don't let them in. If a UK citizen vaccinated in the UK has the correct UK records, then why should they be stopped? Who cares whether a foreign vaccination can be verified or not. This looks very much like the kind of trap being developed to find a way to confuse the system and keep travel subdued. It also looks very much that a policy of, 'if one can't go then nobody can go' policy is still being implemented. There will be significant trouble over this. Restricting large parts of the adult population from freedoms because some people refuse to vaccinate. As for the excuse that children are an issue, there are plenty of places that have a no access to children rule, adults only, so that is a another excuse being used. This is a very sad situation.

....... so Mr Chapps, only countries, and indeed islands, that can perform genomic sequencing will manage to get on to the green list? SO most of the world and islands are ruled out basically for ever.

mmmmmm.... minor up tick response with the over night pi orders. From 8:15 we will see whether the iis computers simply run a basic algorithm or go to dump or gain. I don't think much is going to happen until the definition, 'later in the summer' has some context. For some that would mean start of August, for other that could mean mid-September.

28th is supposed to be when the definition for amber lists is cleared up. Based on last nights deeply disappointing news I will expect an arrangement that is made to look like a positive move forward but in practice is designed to continue to stop and deter travel.

I don't think the Caribbean routes will add that much more since they are on the watch list - although if they were on the green proper it would mean nothing as demonstrated with the flipping of Portugal. Frankley, most of the people holidaying in the Caribbean will not be inconvenienced much by quarantine or costs of tests. I expect a brief up tick but I think this is a profit taking day and now accept that the policy of the government is to not allow free travel for this summer.

Well, that was one of the shortest deramps I think I have ever seen. It looks tike traderguru checked his email after all and found the message in the spam folder to kick back on the deramp and cut losses with the spread bet. Wonder how much he lost. Given the proximity of a major news release, I am a little astonished these boiler room people wanted to bet. Maybe this is a wild syndicate that are tempted by huge odds without looking at the details. Seems the deramp troop is gone now, one very short flash in the pan.

I wouldn't be surprised if mm have some very big orders on their books, but will be managing them such that they are building reserves to meet the orders if the orders are given the nod [after minister statement] and if the nod doesn't come, the shares are easily sold back.

I suspect the biggest news will be the need to use covid passport type arrangements. It should have been set up many months ago ready for people, not just here but everywhere. Most governments, Germany seemingly excluded, are waking up to the fact that holding back the variants and covid spread is a meaningless task requiring permanent lockdown forever. The libertarian busybodies will go nuts bouncing off the walls, but the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few. Whole populations cannot be held in lockdown with basic freedoms removed just because a few anti-vaxers refuse to get on board. The rights of those who are vaccinated will vastly over take the numpties.

Market reaction is iffy. Basically this is not being leaked. Indeed all searches to get a time for the announcement throws up everything from mid afternoon through to latter in the evening. That lack of clarity is possibly making the market apprehensive. If the announcement looks like it is coming after the market closes, it will be interpreted as meaning the news is at best neutral. I think on this occasion that would be miss-reading the signals. I suspect a lot is going on behind the scenes to check whether destinations moved to green will indeed be allowing UK in to the country. We don't want a load more Austraila and New Zealand lists. Also, the government is probably waiting for info from the States so able to update on travelling to the US, or limited zones such as theme parks and Vegas.

tradegurus, have you been left to man the IAG deramp desk all by yourself? Your fellow derampers seem to have abandoned you. Only curious movement so far is SSP. That should be tracking up in line with more airport traffic = more footfall in the outlets. Looks like a few people were spooked and sold out this morning without waiting for the afternoon announcement. That, in my opinion was just plain dumb.
