I’d concur with that Ken. It might depend a bit on the ship you’re on? But even on an adults only, you do get some oddball folk, e.g. when we were fogged out of Bar Harbour - you couldn’t see more than 15 yards so far too dangerous to use the tenders - I overheard a bunch of passengers saying that it was only cancelled because the Captain wanted to save the port fees.

Quite astonishing. And there was I thinking they wanted to enjoy themselves……

It’s honestly the sheer volatility that gets me. With the number of shares in issue it cannot be the trades.

Which is true up to a point, but those who cruise (on the sea in ships) are more likely to benefit from higher rates as they will get better returns.

Some companies have got themselves into real trouble by accounting for cash as fully earned when they received it, some even booked future payments in the same way. No such issues with Carnival, fortunately. Like you, I hint FCC must be pretty well exhausted.

We started on Oriana, lovely old lady, some years back as our “test/taster” cruise for 10 days to Canaries and back. She was probably the “stuffiest” but we loved the trip, especially as no flying involved and we are only 40 minutes from Southampton so have stuck with P & O ever since. We also like the “adults only” ships.

I, too, am optimistic about the future, as are the board and executives at Carnival. I am also not alone in thinking there is some kind of manipulation going on. Who and how are not obvious but it looks and feels like it may border on illegality. The shorters don’t seem to be overly active at only 2.5% of the shares in issue.

I think someone mentioned elsewhere that inflation means less consumer spend. - but I am sure that the majority who go cruising are not in that boat, as it were. We meet folk who do 6 or more a year with different lines. Still, we can but hang in there.

Agree, K. As usual, I have no idea what is going on. Q1 results due soon but I suspect that even if they are better than expected, a reason will be found to depress the price.

Well, we had travelled feet first (like a funeral cortège!) and then had a head first cabin. Not through choice or design and I don’t know why but we slept better.

As cabins are sold, generally prices move upwards. There are times when a bargain may be had but this is usually pretty close to departure.

You can con for what P & O, maybe others too, call a “guarantee fare” which means you will get a cabin of at least that grade but not know until the last minute which one.

Upgrades probably go to those who booked early but I have not heard of anyone getting one!

Depends on the cruise. If you’re out and back from Southampton, say, it doesn’t matter. If you’re one way from anywhere, e.g. a fly cruise or repositioning, you might want to think about sun on the balcony.

We always do a balcony cabin but only ever use P & O’s Arcadia (no kids!!).

Looking back over the day there was actually drop of 15p just after 14:30!

Anyway, happy with the price hovering where it is. Agree t will need some time to push up further. Carnival’s Q1 ends on 28th February, I think withe results announced into March.

At the moment sticking around the mid £8.80’s. OK by me, at least there wasn’t a “tank” when NYSE opened which often seems to happen.

BTW, Topo, have you sailed with Ambassador? Mixed reviews, as always, so don’t know what to rely on.
