Got a long missive from the yesterday which largely went over my head talking about DI’s, each one being equivalent to one new CCL share and how these can be traded between 14:30 and 21:00 hours, which I assume means hen NYSE is open. So, I tried (and stopped!) a trade of approx 2,500 shares. The main downside was the spread. The fees were nominal, pretty much but the difference between what the bid price shown would have given and what was offered in cash was £3,000+!!

I’m still waiting to get to £25.

My, you have a busy time ahead! I have just had the latest missive from P&O saying £200 OBBC or FCC, take it or leave it. They’re also trying to hide behind the small print, ignoring entirely the fact that it was overbooking.

I’m not optimistic at all and not worth the stress of going to MCOL (small claims court, as was).

Most likely it’s my semi-conductor brain cell that’s melted in the heat. It’s also a bit unclear about when I can actually trade the shares during the day. I have assumed that it’s when NYSE is open concurrently with London which only gives a couple of hours “window”. Anyway, I am sure it’ll work out in the end. Like I’ve said before, my intention is to keep only the minimum 100 for OBC.

Hope you’re coping in the heat. Seems a bit fresher today.

Closing bid price yesterday shown above is $27.58. On HL it’s $27.81. Anyone know a possible cause? Not that it makes any difference as I will get the HL price whatever, even if the discrepancy was the other way around. Just curious.

Carnival have doubled their compensation offer to £200 of FCC from £100 of OBC. Since their T’s & C’s say they will give 20% of the package price for their cancelling within 14 days of sailing, i am expecting to have to issue a letter of intended action before we embark on 29th June.

Why are they so obdurate?

It was the same earlier this year, Never22. Maybe it’s different in the US. I just got my Standard Life Divi today and that went XD about six weeks ago.

It seems that HL, for a change, are actually in the forefront here in a good way. My shares, held in a SIPP, have for some days been showing as a £Stg value. When I look behind that to see what the movement has been - this bloomin’ share never stays still from one minute to the next - the SP is shown in US$. HL have said previously that I can trade them but there will be different, i.e. extra, charges for doing so, namely a “transaction fee” and an “F/X commission”. I never day-traded but that would kibosh that activity. Hence my decision to wait it out until later in the year, or early next to leave my 100 shares for OBC.

Hope this doesn’t sound like gloating. I am getting close to the point of issuing a letter of intended action to P & O, though. How ironic is that?

HL show the £Stg value in my account. Haven’t tried trading yet. Also not sure about the F/X rate they’re using. Still, wait for the Divi to arrive and that might tell me something. Like I’ve said before, as soon as it hits £25, $33 approx, I’ll be out apart from my 100 for OBC.

BTW, P & O doubled their offer to £200 of FCC (previously OBC) but I have rejected that as their own T’s & C’s say that within 14 days of sailing, compensation is 20% of the package price.

That’s exactly it, Al4x. How it’s shown/dealt with, charged etc depends on your provider.

My plan is to get to that position, too, Blackjack, but also to be patient over the next few months. Hopefully, it will reach the magic £25 and I shall sell up the.

Thanks Mathrof. As it happens, I did complete a W-8BEN in time for the first dividend and it was paid into my SIPP with no deduction for USWithholding tax.

I am more concerned about what’s happened to my actual shares. HL say they cannot give a price as it’s suspended and I understand that. However, all values, apart from the number of shares and original cost have disappeared with no indication of what’s actually happening.

From what’s been said below, I guess I must wait until next week. Several “know-alls” have given its buy rating with a target of £26 equivalent later in the year. Bot’s prediction is the same -NOTE i mentioned him as someone who DOES know a thing or two about shares and investing although he would want to play that down!
