The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Thank you, Bot. Rich is a relative term - I don’t hold anything like the volume or number of shares that many on here have.
It does give one a bit of a rosy glow - only tarnished by poorer performance elsewhere, of course!
B
Poorman, that is a singularly pessimistic view, IMHO.
They have a strategy in place to achieve investment grade by 2026 YE, which means certain criteria have to be fulfilled, including, I think, reintroduction of dividends. They have just placed an order for another new ship. This should be the most resilient cruise co because of its worldwide spread - but that somehow seems to go against it and also produces incredible intra-day volatility you won’t see in any other share.
I am in for the long haul, BTW.
B
Bot, sometimes bravery can look a bit silly but not here. You clearly have lots of insights and knowledge and I, for one, am very glad to see you here.
Of course, when you leave the share price in the hands of someone line me, that might get a bit nearer to being “F****** stupid” as you so delicately put it.
I am now blue on NatWest, can you believe! Big smile on face.😀
B
£11.30 will be a bargain but only in the longer term. Gritted teeth needed. Maybe eve a life jacket! Anyone got a spare?
My consolation is that NatWest has almost reached my average.
Which is the swing and which is the roundabout?
B
Hope you can snooze on the coach. Assume you got to Brisl by taxi or something or you would have to go back there to pick up your car.
Ah well, all part of the fun of holidays!
Agree about the “investment grade” - it’s a central pillar in their recovery strategy.
B
I agree tat this is an entirely expected reaction to good results. WTF hardly covers it really!
Thanks Bot for your input and insights. Another hour to go - is the US closed over the weekend?
Our clocks go forward on Saturday so we get to a 14:30 NYSE opening time next week.
B
CWWX,
Carnival announced that almost as part of their Q1 results. My personal view is that in terms of revenue etc. it is barely more than a drop in the bucket. You only have to look at the amount of cash they hold, >$5bn, or their total revenue or their total expenditure to see it is a very small amount.
Doesn’t help the inconvenience to passengers or lessen the impact of this absolute tragedy.
B
Casapinos, nice to see a new face on here. I am worried that your debt numbers aren’t right for Carnival. Long term debt stands at $28bn.
Their stated intention is to achieve “investment grade status” in 2026. So this means certain criteria will have to be met. Not sure exactly what they are but it is a meaningful status, apparently.
