Not so much weird - more WTF is going on? You’d have thought that the HSBC takeover of SVB here would provide a boost. Just the opposite for banks - and CCL, naturally.

BTW I see P & O have announced extra OBC for cruises booked between now and the end of June, up to £480 per cabin.

Are they short of bookings? I looked at Ventura’s round trip to the Caribbean but there seemed no availability.

Do remember that all CCL debt is on fixed rates.

The total shares shorted in the UK in the UK is now less than 2%.

Agree with the comments about those who cruise not being worried about inflation or interest rates - except insofar as they push up the price of their cruise……..

You have to be slightly careful because those are just the UK figures/numbers.

In the US there are over 200,000,000 shares in issue. Only about 146m are tradable and more than half of those are held by institutions. Not sure about the UK ones but looking at the trades, only very small (relatively) are traded, sometimes only singly, and the vast majority are Automatic. Also need to bear in mind that although sales/purchases are recorded there is a balancing purchase/sale. At the close of each day all the “uncrossed trades” are put through and this may cause a small adjustment to the price.

So, having said all that, what causes the price to fluctuate so wildly, even within a day?

Am I paranoid in thinking there is manipulation?

Always a risk for Directors buying and selling. Easily accused of insider trading if their chums do it for them.

Peculiar as to why such a tank today but elsewhere, everywhere?, sentiment trumps facts.

I appreciate you have much bigger exposure than the rest of us but patience will be rewarded. Carnival as a business, particularly in relation to other cruise lines and holiday companies is actually pretty solid.

Give it 6 months and I believe we shall see the share price over £10.

Item posted by Carnival yesterday says they have 146,000,000+ voting shares in issue out of a total number of shares of over 216,000,000.

All these numbers exclude UK shares.

So, why is the SP so volatile in both US and UK when over 50% are owned by institutions? Just asking….

Like you, I have no choice but to hang in there! My average price is £7.95, or thereabouts so, yes, in the blue or green for today.

Such a rollercoaster all the time, though!
