Thanks, Namaste. I haven’t been a shareholder that long but they do say in each announcement that the shares will not be cancelled nor held in treasury nor have any voting rights (not that they had any, anyway).

Thanks Ken. It just seems slightly odd that they announce the purchases but without any explanation.

If they do intend to use them for bonus purposes, I wish I worked there!

In four tranches on four separate days up to yesterday, Carnival have bought up some 570,000 shares (sorry about earlier number) at roughly £7 per share, maybe slightly more. In any case, that is more than £4,000,000 cost plus f to Merrill Lynch.

Anyone any idea why?

I am, I hope, reasonably logical in my thinking which is probably at the root of my outbursts.

I shall certainly be hanging in there. Do you have a view on the share “buybacks”? They haven’t been publicised. I get notices direct from Carnival.

PS that is a total of some 750,000 in the last ten days.

And yesterday, Carnival, bought back another 108,000 UK shares at an average price of £7.23.

Presumably, the cash is coming from the inflow of bookings!

Indeed so, Botbot but you could equally, in my case more than likely so, lose just as much with wrong timing.

Yeah, Baltics are our favourites after Norway. Helsinki is lovely. There is a church built into the side of a rock with the most amazing acoustics. The only problem is the language - about as impenetrable as Welsh.
