Re thoughts on the SP this week has certainly left me a bit baffled. We are now armed with a great markman outcome and cash runway til 2022 and yet here we are, beneath the 30.3 April high achieved on nothing but hot air! The market is a funny place sometimes and I really felt we would be sitting nicely above 30p.

The next piece of the puzzle is the patent board decision. Perhaps that, coupled with the markman verdict, will create more certainty and an uplift.

Either way it’s a good value prospect IMO and plenty of action took forward to!

BTB - I understand the logic behind selling on the spike of PTAB (if there even is one - who knows the way this has gone last couple of days!) but to me that's bad advice indeed. Whilst it's hardly odds on, it would be foolish to discount the prospect of an out of court settlement or (even less likely I know) some form of buyout.
If you bought in at 10p then fair enough it's a quick trade and likely a three bagger, but all long term holders are waiting for the heyday.
And just a side note, if you are invested here, it seems odd you are so downbeat about Nano. On more than one occasion I feel that your 'realism' strays into pessimism. Whilst none of us want mindless ramping on this BB (and to be fair I find the balance and consideration of the posters here make it a great BB) I think that as PIs we have faith and a degree of optimism about the companies we invest in, else why invest here in the first place?
To me, if we touched 30p on speculation alone, and are at 28p with the two RNSs we've had, then we just have to put it down to the fact the market has it wrong for now...

I wonder now if fears of a fundraiser were behind the muted response yesterday. Ie Nano wouldn’t have the cash to endure a lengthy drawn out road to settlement with Samsung.

This RNS allays those fears for some time yet.

If this price slump is solely down to this Finncap debacle then that should surely go down as one of the most ridiculous cases of ‘tail wagging the dog’ I’ve ever known.

I've seen shares drop 70% based on sentiment alone. It happens. Those looking for a reason behind the drop are piddling in the wind in my view. Anyone who has invested in a miner will know how it feels to be constantly working against risk and bad news. Orph has put out positive RNS after positive RNS and yet the price still drifts.

So be it.

Nothing fundamental has changed here. Eventually this will all sort itself out, it always does.

Seems odd we aren’t well past that already TBF, especially considering that it touched 30p on sentiment alone. The RNS de risks it further so I should say over the coming weeks the outlook will improve and we will be well north of 30p

I think a suspension would’ve accelerated the downtrend to be honest. There’s really no need for one and traders would’ve definitely smelled blood.

As for having the kitchen sink here, guilty as charged, but I don’t need to pull my money out and have researched this company well. Being all in on a stock is fine so long as you’ve got the nerve to ride the dips.

As WB said ‘diversification is a protection against ignorance’ those who know OO and where it’s going really need not worry, I know I’m not.

If I remember correctly, lobo87 had a legal background and helped us decipher to markman presentations. Let’s hope he/she can help here.

Totally understand frustration with the SP but to question CF’s integrity on this seems far fetched. It’s actually refreshing to see a CEO focused on the shareholder rather than ‘the boys’, nothing CF has said or done would lead me to think otherwise. The fact he hasn’t, and doesn’t, gift himself crazy share options (as you see in many AIM companies) speaks volumes to me.

I’ve been on the record as stating that CF has the SP under control and I do stand by that comment. But clearly macroeconomic factors have combined with a couple of days where this stock has been heavily traded to undermine the stability we had.

With so many PIs in this stock, it’s ripe for tree shakes and as we’ve seen, volatility, in the absence of certainty (waiting for results, spin off news etc) has clearly created space for traders to really do some damage.

Everyone just needs to be calm we all know what we came here for so no use bellyaching about the drop, even if it goes down further.

Added a very small top up at 33.5. Barring selling the shirt off my back I’m maxed out til next payday. Will add again tjen of sub 40p.

It’s crazy what’s happening but this is aim and it’s a rare thing indeed when value and SP are properly aligned.

That’s fair enough Peter and you don’t need to justify how you choose to invest your money. I’m sure many would sympathise with your reasons and at the end of the day if an investment is worrying you/keeping you up at night then it’s best to de-risk.

For my own part I’ve gone the other way. I’m now 70% in this stock. I’d add more if I could but my other holdings I want to see to fruition first else I’d be pretty much all in here.

Sometimes when you see a winner you just go for it. I could be wrong, and this investment could prove costly if I am, but to me it’s more a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’ with Open Orphan. Today’s RNS further proved that to me.

Something from the RNS that caught my eye:

‘which will be used in future hVIVO run human challenge trials to allow direct comparisons of vaccines or antivirals against different COVID-19 variants.’

So in essence, we are being paid 3million to develop a virus (and with it a huge competitive advantage) that pharmas across the globe can test their treatments again through our challenge study model.

To me, the potential of the contract for future revenue development is way more exciting than the value of the contract itself...

Glad I don’t follow the ‘hot money’ then, surest way to end up carrying the bag at the end of it all!

Important to keep feet firmly on the ground I think and to take our signals from Nano’s moves rather than target prices. Upsides could be massive, but current risks are significant too. For us that have been brave enough to back nano at their lowest ebb will stand to gain the most from a post litigation Nano.

There could well be a few who sell if there’s positive news on the legal front. Don’t forget there are a significant number of PIs who have been underwater for a long time and will jump at the chance to get out of a share that has caused such angst. Nonetheless, I expect a big rise and a retrace after the euphoria wears off and some selling kicks in. However, I think selling straight off the back of the legal case would be like cashing out a bet on Usain Bolt before he’s even set in the starting blocks.

It’s certainly worth sticking around to see what a rejuvenated Nano do with their IP and, as others have alluded to, the potentially massive market cap that could follow as a result.

Just wanted to thank the BB for this excellent discussion and to Oak for his sleuthing!

The naysayers would have you think Syn is bumbling along, not doing much of anything but this goes to show they have a clear vision for how various scenarios might play out.

Still all hinges on trial results but I’m now much more convinced about the scaleability and eventual value we might see here. Once the results are in it’ll be all systems go (hopefully).

I think Samsung’s burgeoning legal team tells you that they are at least going through the motions of taking this the whole 9 yards, regardless of markman and patent board decisions.

Show of force, chuck the kitchen sink at it etc, if it all goes Pete Tong, well, back to plan B and we settle.

It’s worth bearing in mind that even an astronomical, record breaking settlement would be small change to Samsung. I honestly reckon they see this all as a free hit where there isn’t much to lose on their side and like I say, if the litigation heads south, get the cheque book out and make it all go away.

Ask yourself this: if Samsung thought markman and Patent board are a slam dunk in their favour, would they be busily assembling the Avengers of litigation right now? Of course not. They expect to get smoked on both counts and they will see us in court thank you very much.

Either way, and I keep coming back to this, markman will be a critical signpost. If it goes in our favour then our prospects look very good indeed, regardless of Samsung’s posturing.
