I think the restructure is also an important development. They haven’t just sat on their hands but thought carefully about where they are headed and what areas they need to prioritise. It seems they’ve been proactive.

I was thinking about our CHIM capabilities being particularly useful for the ‘prediction’ and ‘prevention’ strategies mentioned here.

This pandemic has shown that successful response comes when government work in tandem with private enterprises (eg the vaccines).

The leaders say that in the same spirit, countries must now "be better prepared to predict, prevent, detect, assess and effectively respond to pandemics in a highly co-ordinated fashion".

If only there was a company that might facilitate this... :)

1) The NDA is virtually irrelevant to this case. The matter at hand is if Nanoco’s patents have been used. The NDA does, however, give some important context as to the relationship between Nano and Samsung at one stage, making their breach of trust all the more unsavoury in my eyes.

2) as you yourself have said, essentially betting on the outcome of a trial isn’t sound investing in the eyes of big players and IIs, no matter how likely a positive outcome is. I do think the SP will tell us what the markets think in the next week or two...but one must remember that a small cap firm with a battered SP is unlikely to attract much attention until there’s major news. So really it’s just an opportunity for the PI to get in first.

Having looked over the documents again, the ‘slam dunk’ is Nano’s opening illustration of the 557 patent. Nano not only illustrates the chemical similarities between theirs and Samsung’s CFQDs but also uses Samsung’s OWN DESCRIPTIONS of their dots to highlight they are, in terms of their shell layering, exactly the same!

As nano states on slide 3 ‘no case construction is necessary’ when Samsung fall on their own sword like that!

That opening gambit must have been devastating in the court.

As I’ve said a number of times, markman verdict will be critical.

The judge’s ruling will represent signs and signals to both parties, indicating to each the likelihood of success or failure if this went to trial.

If the markman ‘rules’ in nano’s favour, will Samsung fight it tooth and nail? Their words would suggest they will fight it to the last, but they will surely have in mind their abject failure to defend their chicanery at trial almost every time of asking. Not to mention yet more negative press on the very unsavoury topic of theft and piracy. Yes they’ve gone to trial before but surely their track record by now is enough of a deterrent to make them seriously reconsider this strategy. Not to mention the domino effect it would create in terms of nano pursuing Samsung in other jurisdictions. Could get very messy.

To me, the likely outcome in the event of a positive markman for nano would be an out of court settlement. Samsung is just going through the motions to try and make that settlement figure as reasonable as possible. Samsung thought they could pound nano into the ground, and very nearly did, they are now having to think twice.

I’m feeling hopeful.

Whilst the SP has by no means moonshot, today feels like the start of the big move up we’ve all been discussing and believed in for some time. The volume ratios are puzzling, and certainly warranted double digit gains in my view, but really really strong buy trend non the less and sooner or later that will reflect in the SP.

This morning a solid, assured and promising RNS got the ball rolling. I don’t think the single contract is enough to get the pulse racing but the implication of some of the comments, brilliantly highlighted by members of this board, have proven we are just getting started... I suspect that as CF gets his chips lined up, there will be a steady flow of similar RNS, building momentum for this share. As I said earlier this week, anything in the 30s is a bargain.

Could there be a retrace next week? Possibly. But I don’t expect us to be bouncing roind 28-30p again.

A steady, solid, satisfying day in OO world.

The entire sector is being bludgeoned. This isn’t a GGP issue but a miner/gold issue at large. Seeing this as a vendetta against GGP won’t change anything and is probably not great for one’s sanity.

If the erosion of the share price spooks you, sell up, mining is always a volatile sector. As others have said, nothing fundamental has changed, so why worry? You either believe in the initial reasons for your investment or you don’t.

Otherwise hold, or perhaps even add to your position at these bargain prices. Gold will come roaring back and there are few better prospects in the sector than GGP.

We are definitely on the same page here earache. Lots of good points made. You’re absolutely right that CF is focused on the business first, as he should be, relentless focus on development and growth can only be good news for private investors. I for one am really excited for what the future holds. And Everything is in place for a serious leg up.

The only point on which I disagree is the parasites point. No company floats unless they don’t need money for growth. Yes, we are now looking at a real lot solid prospect of a company, so in this particular case your point holds water. However, once upon a time, Open Orphan needed money to grow and develop, and so it floated. Many AIM shares rely heavily on private investors to fund their development and growth. They might not need us now, but I don’t think any publicly listed company would be so foolish as to forget where they came from, and the important advantages that floating can offer, some of those that have been here since the IPO would take exception to your comments.

Anyway, I’ll continue to fill my boots whilst it stays on the 30s

Thanks for your post earlier. The final point, on patience, is a pertinent one.

I think sometimes investors become a little blinkered by RNS and timelines. Yes I think it’s fair to say that CF has perhaps been naive in setting timelines that don’t come to fruition. But equally, we know he’s so busy actually growing the business, that he’s more than forgiven for not being totally investor focused 100% of the time. What he’s achieved so far has surely earned our patience as PIs (take note, longinvestments, or ship out).

I, and am sure many others too, feel like we’ve backed a winner here. So many investments are binary ‘either this product or idea succeeds or it fails’, but with Orph, we have at least 5 potential ideas tjat could multibag, let alone any selling off of non core assets, dividends, or the truly exciting prospect of Orph Pharma.

Sit tight, enjoy the ride, let’s leave the graphs and the RNS alone for a bit and remember why we invested in this potentially massive company.

Anyone else noticed every time LongInvestments comes to angrily wave his fist at Invesco, or comment on a tiny dip in the SP, the SP jumps up?

I know he’s not popular with many on here but he could be our lucky charm haha
