What from here?12 Dec 2025 09:41
For me, the following:
- I can relax. And I have. No more looking at the SP every hour! Will now wait and see one of First Oil (hopefully) or the takeover terms.
- Admittedly I did keep my eyes fixed on the SP for the past 7 months. Two reasons:
1) Like most small investors my age this was a life-changing moment, likely to guarantee certain important things like my children's college funds and my retirement. The things we work all our lives towards...
2) The SP hit the 75p range as of 1 August and then pretty much sat there for 90 days. Eventually I said to myself hang on, maybe this is what we're worth atm (which I also voiced here) and Happy is right in that respect (also credited him yesterday). Simultaneously, I always thought it was extremely important the SP should see the day of FID announcement from a much higher starting point, which it has (85-86p). Credit MMs btw, very well executed that last sprint pre-FID from 75 to 85! But I was entirely wrong about the spike, which never came. Academic nevertheless as I wasn't selling.
- Now I suspect we'll hoover around the 75p mark until there are developments. Each of those developments (financial close, OO shares available, new contracts signed, political noise, etc) will move the SP but I suspect we'll stay anchored at this 75p range for some time.
- The moment I see the SP in the 60s I'm topping up. Better stick with a share I know very well than go explore new big adventures (at my age).
- "The takeover" I suspect will be the single biggest talking point from here on. I know in my gut we'll be taken out and I think it'll be a political tie-up, hence BP. I know they looked at us before.
- I will check the board less frequently, but I will. Good luck all. Never met you in person (gutted I didn't make the GM) but in my eyes this is a community I enjoy being part of.
Happy Christmas and happy holidays to you all!
