600k shares nice rate. 3 million a week 12 million a month or 1.5% of company. Annularised rare of buy backs is 18% a year. Most aggressive I've seen and in time will refect in SP.
All this needs is patience
I know that won't come as a comfort for those invested at £4 but superb entry point

My main dig was at the joke post by troubled seller. Nearly doubled !!!
He clearly fell for the "bent " metrics our board provided showing production and reserves per share as improving pre and post deal.
Just an oversight that 50% of the consideration was cash and a debt transfer.

Tim Wilding is right on the high price of share buy backs. Personally I would prefer a taper that above x moves the return away from buy backs to dividend. £300m would be a 10p share return - say 35% more than we get now. At £10 a share it buys 1% of the company. Not sure they have the balance right between buy backs and divs

Millionaire was our mega optimistic man - his city mates some may remember had a £25 target on this.
We also had a couple of interesting posters Valuewise was super clued up on Insurance and was proved right. Dofuswinchmore who worked for Saga and a lad whose username escaped ne but lives in the Hastings area used to work for Saga to. Great to hear from any of the old gang ? RTrader - I can see the makings of a party. And what about Horse**** keeper of the cruise bookings and old Salty captain Bird's-eye. And the Indian lad who liked horses. Any old timers there ?

Almost certain floor on EPL.
17% return at current SP via divy and buy backs.
I'm really comfortable with this share and at this SP is one of the best risk rewards I've seen

It has crashed on the last few trading updates so history is on your side.
The fact that they are reporting debt rising at the TU in the second half and such a paltry profit £25 despite cruising doing well shocked me.
Perhaps they have been ultra cautious [ the full year guidance was poor] and we are in for a supriise ?

Troubled - near doubled production - nonsense.
Far closer to 60% increase at a ridiculous price.
Gas going up 10% today. Oil less so.

Thanks Checkin - I think the biggest misnomer on these boards is around shorting / game playing / hidden agendas. I'm just an ordinary punter.
Hard one to call on my historic losses. I got in originally at 35p old money and then heavily just after Roger arrived averaging down and made some money selling out on the rise to £4.30 ish. I then went all in at circa £1.36 before interims and bailed on a spike on results day at £1.12 ish. Not a big roller but guess 15 -25k down overall. A loss for certain
The wife has 2500 in a really small SIPP - I've inherited them as she needed some cash. Very small holder but know lots on the board.
I think the large holder was Roxbury House ? Alnwick is the board optimist along with a guy called something like market trader. Dianto is our pessimist and to be fair has called in right.
For me the juries out on this but what I am certain of is its a play on insurance. That I need to research

Read a few updates yesterday.
One that jumped out was
Interims - cruise booking very good expected 70% of berths sold for 23/24 before end of financial year.
Last trading update just after year end 60% of berth sold for 23/24
That's a material gap and not in line with current thinking.
I'm wondering if it's a misprint and they meant when the accounts were published in early April rather than early Feb 23. I hope so.

On a less pompous note - accounting brings out the worst.
This share is one of the most volatile I have ever seen for a reasonable capitalised company.
Does anyone know if there is a statistical measure of volatility on SP , s.

Sprights - I think you are a good poster but don't apply for a shipping industry job.
Inflation will have an advantage in it chips away at the value of the ships loan [ its real value falls faster than its notional value]. Currently the interest rate is circa 4% and inflation 10%.
That's a good thing.
Inflation in relation to a second hand asset. Won't impact the good ship.Saga
- replacement cost accounting was struck out years ago.
- revaluations don't apply to medium life assets
- Inflation might be advantageous to the ships annual impairment test.
- book value will only change if we determine that the usefull life exceeds 25 years. This only applies after major refurbishments.
I think they are the key accounting considerations but there may be others !

For what it's worth I found it courteous , informative and factual. I may not be Andrew's biggest fan but am not as close to the company as you.

Batfested and Rogue - two of the real old school club. For those who don't know I devoured the accounts and information on this company and after a fall to £1.10 ish followed by a meteoric rise to £4.30 was convinced this was the next big thing. I was the Karl Taylor and Checkin of a by gone era.
How us old timers wished we were out at £4.30.
What's changed ?
Single word Insurance - cash cow to really struggling.
Cruise looking good and no corporation tax ever to pay. It pays about 90k a year in the "tonnage tax " regime. Tour is a dog albeit less of a dog.
All the new business ? Is there really money in it. All this hits on website not surprising with our advertising spend.
This is all about Insuance. Return to the profits of four years back and this is a £5 company. Perform like we are now it's a £1.50 to £2 company.

Dogfarther I had to smile on 23rd Feb you posted on BaE the most quiet of boards suggesting with a small yield time to sell and invest in a growth company like HARL. Since then HARL down 20% and BAE up 10% with a an even moer miniscule yield.
It didn't take long but I sat on my hands and passed on the offer

Atrm - three weeks ago a poster reccomended just Filtering the two of them. He was bang on the Boards relevant and interesting and about HBR.
