I do understand the situation in the NHS and the role that effective vaccines hopefully will play. Based on what I am seeing, I am simply not convinced that
we have an accurate picture of how effective they currently are.
I get it that they are the best we have and a definite step in the right direction. But when independent studies force the government and favoured manufacturer to completely change and revise down their incredible claims of efficacy then we have a problem.
We have a problem of trust and we have a problem of making an informed judgment as to just how good they are.

Coupled with that the clues we can see from countries at a more advanced stage of the new variants and again there are yet more questions than answers as to what if significant at all the conferred immunity will be.

The government to my mind is doing the classic swan , trying to look serene whilst quietly panicking and paddling like mad under the water.

Professor Gilbert saying they are already working hard on a new vaccine to tackle established new strains whilst the government takes extraordinary measures and trying to locate and stop the spread. Does this show their confidence in the current vaccines?

Tony don’t get me wrong I agree with 99% of your posts but on this one I am erring on the side of caution and not believing the government line.

Because on current form as new data comes into the public domain they’ve changed the narrative so far and they don’t have much wriggle room left.

People are afraid if not just for themselves most have loved ones we want to believe are safe as a result of the current vaccines.

I want badly to believe this too but the sad truth is I am anything but convinced.

The government medical experts say the vaccines still work well in spite of independent research producing real evidence they might not.

The government has a responsibility to give people hope and a belief its all under control.

Yet consider one simple question. The vaccines continue to provide good protection against serious illness why are the vaccine makers hurriedly trying to rework them.

If something isn’t broken and works well why the urgency to fix it ?

Earlier this week Monsieur Han**** in conjunction with Astra Zeneca was giving the world superb news
’ their vaccine was very effective against all new variants.’

A few days later after research in South Africa totally debunked these claims Boris, Han**** and Astra Zeneca proclaim that ‘it still prevents people getting seriously ill.’

When I choose to believe people at face value I make that decision on consistency and past truthfulness.
Having been fired from two jobs for lying to his employers and this latest falsehood promoting this vaccine doesn’t put Boris as someone I believe unreservedly.
But each to their own.

So SKY news has a running tally reassuringly me how many UK vaccinations.
At the same time at last AstraZenica have confirmed following South African research their vaccine doesn’t work, so sorry has ‘limited’ effect on the strains that are rapidly becoming dominant.

Only earlier this same week Matt Han**** and Astra saying superb news the vaccine works well against all the new strains.

Is it just me or is there a bleeding massive woolly mammoth in the room?

The good news is that the vaccine can be reworked and rolled out in the autumn.
Meanwhile we are proudly dishing out a vaccine that doesn’t work against the new strains that are rapidly becoming the old strain.
Maybe we could dish something else out that is a bit cheaper and doesn’t work so long as we can publish how well we are doing.

I believe there is an established maxim when a Lawyer cross examines.
Don’t pursue a line of questioning where you might not like the answer you get as it could seriously undermine your case.

Is it a possibility AstraZenica steered clear of that line of investigation because it’s a bit like Pandora’s Box you cannot unknow the facts and maybe they didn’t want them scuppering their roll out?

If I was being cynical and wanted nothing to stop my roll out & protect my reputation then no I definitely wouldn’t ask the question.

Once you are out there the inevitable mutations can be blamed- you’ve got the massive contract and you say ‘hold on we can fix this tweak it a bit’ and you’ve got a contract for life ‘tweaking’ your constantly obsolete vaccine.

Filthy corruption and the principle players are the usual suspects. Han****, Lord Bethel and eminent professor John Bell. People they are appropriating hundreds of millions of our hard earned. Yet we put people in jail for fiddling a few thousand on the social.
Beyond angry this has to stop and the crooks involved held accountable.
