Oh well if you are prepared to make Ill judged impactful decisions only fair to face questions to back it up as he says is right and proper. Only easy questions though that reflect on what a super clever bloke he is ?

For its worth it looks like the vaccine manufacturers selectively and over optimistically ‘filled in’ the data gaps in an attempt to gain market dominance.

Governments and regulatory bodies under enormous pressure for a solution have been complicit in not asking for more data because it suited their needs not to delay roll out or risk alienating the providers of the solution.

Roll on a few weeks and much greater scrutiny has been given to the real world effectiveness particularly in light of questions around performance against the new variants.

The Eu response does smack of sour grapes but all is fair in love and war.

Astrazeneca seem to have unilaterally renegotiated their EU deal and the Eu (Germany) are threatening to only now scrutinise the data they already know in order to scupper Astrazeneca. So as already said they are on the one hand threatening to rubbish a vaccine whilst on the other demanding delivery of a quota of the same flawed product

The upshot at the moment is a toxic spat which SNG can serenely glide past watching in the rear view mirror the incomplete truth surrounding current vaccines unraveling in a big way.

My mother-in-law was over the moon to just get her jab (AZN) hope she doesn’t hear this.
It really is a very murky old business, corruption spin and huge financial gain set against a global pandemic. Would make a great Grisham novel one day.

The triumphant arrival of the vaccines that floored SNG is unraveling as I thought would catch up with them. Inflated efficacy that seemed to blatantly over egg to grab headlines. If it seems too good to be true, yes it invariably is.

It is getting very real but I keep reminding myself nothing is a done deal until someone in the USA signs on the dotted line.

On the home front Lord Bethole will no doubt appear from nowhere tweeting congratulations tomorrow on behalf of the government. No shame.

Things I Like -

1. SNG (The David & Goliath angle)
2. SNG the concept and body of scientific research underpinning it.
3. SNG the very smart people behind it.
4. SNG the non invasive delivery system.
5. SNG potential to home administer
( possible master stroke).
6. SNG broad anti viral possibilities and possible preventative application.
7. SNG the prospect that it may protect my family, friends and wider population. Oh and maybe myself one day.
8. Possibility to clear my children’s student debts in a stroke and enhance our lives.
9. The massive potential for getting this out there thanks to a very different approach in the USA.

Things I Don’t Like-

1. Lack of Government support and big pharma domination.
2. Corruption and point 1. again.
3. The possibility it doesn’t work so well or something coming from the left field blowing it out of the water.
4. Vaccines not working as well as we were told they would.
5. The inability to put the best available people in charge of the important stuff.
6. The prospect of untold misery until/ if SNG is permitted to make an impact.
7. Having a very difficult conversation with my wife and the prospect of having to work very hard to recoup what we stand to lose / delay achieving if this goes belly up.

Conclusion

Not counting any chickens yet but quietly confident we should all do pretty well if it goes anything like we hope.
‘Even the worst case scenario is still very good.’ Let’s hope he’s right :)

With regard to current population density I think on a world ranking we come in at 49 or thereabouts.
My point really is a simple one.

The UK response to this has not left us in a good place historically or going forward however you want to assess it.

If you have an alternative view and think it’s been great then we can agree to differ on that one.

Meelie my source was Sky News earlier this week. They displayed a chart of the worst per million with the Uk definitely at no. 1

Fair point I cannot say with any confidence the mechanism for reporting/ classifying Covid deaths outside the Uk.

However I have seen reported there has been a very significant number of ‘additional’ unexplained deaths in the UK particularly in the elderly . So maybe it’s a bit of a swings and roundabouts scenario some over reporting and some under reporting.

But whilst it’s good to look for possible mitigation I still think the worst in the world remains impressive for the wrong reasons.

A few days ago and it may still be so we had the worst Covid death rate per capita in the world.

I have seen scant coverage of this fact or indeed Boris, his ministers, or medical advisers being asked to explain how this has come to be. Was it asked at the press briefings? If so I must have missed it.

So is it reasonable to assume if we are the worlds ‘best’ at being the worst, the decision making and response has not been good.
Should we have faith then that against what we have already seen suddenly Boris et al will get a grip.

Or like me do you feel failure after failure, ignoring the BMA and vaccine manufacturers they are ‘winging it’ and simply not up to the job.

If so with such an inept lack of vision to support treatments like SNG can we be confident in one thing, keeping the Top Spot.

It all just leaves me a bit despondent.

I feel blessed to live in a beautiful and for the most part functioning country. I don’t want to live in an autocratic state I just want experienced competent people to be put in charge of the important stuff.

This whole fiasco has been a sad realisation just how broken the system is. We do corruption and cronyism on an industrial scale and there is absolutely no remedy.

As a nation we remain awfully polite and well behaved we wring our hands and have a bit of a moan and to a large extent accept it or make excuses for the inexcusable. Off topic but The Grenfell Enquiry is just such a stitch up the main protagonists who knew what they were doing was seriously dangerous have been given freedom from prosecution so they can give evidence. Let them give evidence in a court answering manslaughter charges.
No wait Powerful Tory council so shaft all the friends, family and victims instead.

SNG is just another example and yes I firmly believe many people have and will continue to perish due to wilful neglect.

So if Mr Biden does something and Boris wants to carry favour and get a Trade Deal he will ‘mirror’ Joes actions.

There are already several examples since inauguration and no doubt it is a conscious strategy

So if Joe expresses a liking for Turkey Dinosaurs Boris will say he loves them too and the same goes for antivirals like SNG.

The vaccine, vaccine, vaccine mantra is a leaky bucket and Plan B will in due course follow the USA

Similarly Boris with fingers crossed said the vaccines remain effective.

Nice positive word ‘effective’ but as my wife pointed out define ‘effective’ in this context. I am guessing it is set pretty low and will be adjusted down in due course.
Mass panic and more people not bothering to take up the present vaccines would be a disaster. So remaining effective needs a bit of clarification.

The government is now considering closing borders due to threat of new variants. Really. Ffs.

It could be called

‘Get Infected to Help (Yourself) Out.’

Another stand alone unique selling point for SNG ? You can’t self administer a ‘shot’ as they call it. But you can a nebuliser.

In a world of Deliveroo etc and medics are not put in harms way it sounds like this is a match made in heaven for SNG.
