Fair point but a simple caveat like ‘claimed’ or as yet not independently verified or peer reviewed.
In pretty much all other unverified contexts they will put in that type of rider.
This stuff is important and deserves to be reported as accurately as possible as it informs the wider population of ‘facts’.

Ok but given what we do know about recurrent reinfection, it only adds to the big conundrum around how long a vaccine provides significant protection.

It is reasonable to think it is most probably limited given how we can see the virus behaving. But as the drug makers themselves are very tight lipped in this regard it seems unrealistic to think otherwise.
We are in effect very excited about buying a great looking car made by a reputable company and it has been road tested. All should be ok but as yet the neither the garage nor the manufacturer are supplying any form of warranty.

Not sure we really know the frequency of people getting a second infection as it’s probably very underreported.
Again anecdotally my son has had it twice and the second time the symptoms were worse.

If you strip this back and apply basic logic

- you make something to fit another thing you design it to work with and fit the known characteristics of the other thing.
If you make 23 Significant changes to the thing you are trying to join to the likelihood of it fitting better must be ridiculously low . The odds of it not joining or having a greatly diminished fit must be very high.

In terms of vaccine effectiveness Prof Whitty we must ‘ASSUME’ the vaccines will still work again the new strain.

Assume ? That sounds like a massive fudge to me. To assume makes an ass out of u and me.
Best case scenario vaccines still work or give some protection. But realistically for how long ?
Mutations are happening now causing significant changes a vaccine formulation happens in the past so needs to predict the future which is no easy job.

What I would give for a news channel to interview the Prof who only last week was spouting and undermining SNG.

Ok to clear up some of the wild baseless accusations let’s talk a quietly with a bit of sense thrown in for good measure.

1. I have filtered the poster referred to as ‘Eva’ for some time and that works for me and many others.

2. It’s a bit like Lord of The Flies here on occasion. I’m not a shrinking violet and I have found a lot of the disparaging quips relating to ‘Eva’ very funny.
Having said that whatever’s going on here there’s a tipping point for me when it’s no longer funny and has at times been unnecessarily nasty.

I don’t know or care who Eva is and she may well be Derek from Basingstoke I couldn’t care less. I do get it that she/he can be annoying but ganging up is cowardly & equally unpleasant.
The filter function is all that’s needed and if anything entering into long ****ging matches with her is just self defeating and giving her/ him more oxygen.
