Travel restrictions within Europe now seem like a waste of time. You can go and stand in a packed night club in London but not on the side of a mountain in France.

Also this the number of infections from this wave may fall as quickly as they have risen. The end of the month may look very different to what it does today.

I’m also sceptical off the worst case scenarios coming out at the minute. SA hospitalisation rates and deaths were a lot lower that the past wave.

We have a lot higher level of vaccination. There is currently less than 1000 people in ICU beds with Covid compared with over 4000 last winter. I think Boris is right to hold back on more restrictions. The virus isn’t going anywhere and we can’t just lock down every winter.

I think the pandemic is being prolonged. Unless you vaccinate the whole world within a short period of time variants are going to keep evolving. It’s never going to happen. India has only vaccinated about half their 1.3bn. Most African countries will never get that close. Current vaccines are now inefficient against the new variant unless you’ve had 3 doses. A new approach is needed. Keep vaccinating the old and vulnerable and just let everyone else get on with life. I’ve had Covid and 3 jabs. The only reason I’d have another is if it’s required to travel.

Stop looking at the share price everyday and come back end of March.

I think markets are going to be volatile all winter. Not as bad as last winter however. Vaccines have cut the number of deaths down to about 10% of what they were last winter. There’s still plenty of f*#k wits around however (especially in Europe) that think this is some big conspiracy theory and won’t get vaccinated. In relation to this new variant I think it’s being blown out of proportion. The Kent variant was more contagious that the original variant, then the delta variant was more contagious than that, now the new variant is even more contagious. It’s that contagious now you can’t even open the front door without catching it.

What we need to be ascertain is (if your long or looking for an entry point) does EZJ have enough cash to see them through to spring? If they do then average down and wait for a strong rebound in travel next year. If they don’t then your stuck with a dog that’s going to come back and ask you for more money.

Personally I think reintroducing the PCR tests has screwed us and isn’t necessary on top of red listing countries in Southern Africa. Big back lash from the travel and tourism sector this week. More volatility.

I don’t know how anyone interprets that as positive.

Who’s going to go to Europe for a weekend, self isolate for 2 days, take a PCR test and then wait another 2 days for the results. I’m supposed to be going skiing in January and there’s no way I’m doing that.

Next year is going to be strong. I just looked at a holiday in Tenerife for this month in a hotel I’ve stayed in lots of time before. No availability and prices next month are well up. Next year prices are ridiculous.

I’m still convinced there will be a big dip over the winter however. Covid rates will go up and people will get spooked. The media will speculate about travel restrictions, lockdowns etc.

The question I’m asking myself is ‘Covid rates in UK/EU are going to go though the roof again this winter?’. With inflation here and on the horizon do I sell my EZJ position and move some money into other sectors with the aim of buying back in Spring next year? Ready for a strong rebound in travel 2022. Obviously taking this approach would mean I miss out on any potential take over bid. But as I say if Covid rates increase rapidly this winter with any speculation of travel restrictions being reimposed in Europe we will see big declines.

I’m thinking if we see any more gains over the next few weeks I’ll be on the side lines for a while ?????
