Russia is losing a conflict on its doorstep. They’ve been fighting for Bakhmut for over six months. An insignificant town in the scheme of things. Tens of thousands dead for nothing. The so called super power can’t even conduct effective military operations 100km from its own land boarder.

If the Ukrainians get to Crimea it’s all over for the Black Sea fleet and the awful regime in the Kremlin.

More like the Russians are about to get their **** handed to them and they want to try and save face (with Xi's help). They were making the same noises last year when the Ukrainians drove them out the Kharkiv Oblast. By all accounts large areas of the Kherson Oblast have been left unmanned by the Russians. The counter offensive will be interesting. Hopefully the Ukrainians are as intelligent about it as they was last year and the minimum number of their young soldiers are killed or wounded.

This has got to be a good time and price to buy if you don't already have a position. Electricity back on line, production on the rise, massive reconstruction at some point, counter offensive looming, peace talk rumors, Italy saying today they will be huge participants in the reconstruction of Ukraine etc etc.

I noticed that. The Ukrainians must me itching to launch their spring offensive. I can see them making rapid gains quickly like they did at the end of last year. From what I can see the terrorist Kremlin vermin have slowed down/or given up on targeting the Ukrainian electrical infrastructure. Plus Ukrainian air defenses are getting better. So you never know we may get something positive on the production side of things.

So China is going to propose some kind of peace proposal. This could be one of the biggest geopolitical moves of the century. China may see this as a no lose position for themselves. Russia is likely to want out the situation they are in, save face and kiss Xi little yellow **** all the same time. If Russia backs the proposal they get out of this mess and China sells itself to the world as the great peace maker and the West as the war mongers. If Ukraine and the West don't back the proposal China may use this as an excuse to give Russia arms. There's no way China will want to see the autocrat in the Kremlin collapse, just as Putin didn't want to see Ukraine become a democracy and part of the EU.

Any sign of peace tomorrow could see a rally. Any sign of escalation could be the beginning of the next cold war (or worse). Lets hope there's an end in sight for the Ukrainian people. Good luck all.

My uncertainty is the same. I will top up big time when the time is right. I’m surprised how well the share price has held up to be honest. The only reason I can think of is how well the management have done in navigating the whole situation and the prospects post war situation.

In terms of ammunition fired Ukraine would be foolish to try and match Russian one for one in terms of rounds fired. They have to fight and more intelligent war. If the west was fighting Russia they wouldn’t be having a slogging match in terms of artillery. That’s all the poorly trained Russian troops are capable of. Take away their weak command and logistics and they’re just a rabble huddled in a trench waiting to get killed. How’s many Russians just walked away and left their armour last year? Russia is the biggest supplier of arms to Ukraine not the west. Let’s wait and see what the Ukrainian spring offensive brings. I wish them luck.

The so called Russian offensive is destined for complete failure. Poor training, poor leadership, rubbish armor (whats left of it), poor motivation, poor logistics, rubbish kit, Russia still doesn't have air superiority, etc etc. More young Russians forced into the meat grinder. They've been fighting for Bakhmut for 6 months now and still haven't been able to take that. But I agree I think the share price will keep drifting down. I also think when the current wave of Russian conscripts are all dead or wounded Putin will go for another round of mobilization. Hopefully this will be the point when the Russian people rise up and dispose of him in anyway the seem fit.

Very true. Putin invaded Ukraine because he couldn’t stand the thought of them joining the EU and becoming a prosperous democratic country. People in Russia might then want the same thing. The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian rabble has put the recovery of airline stocks behind by a year however. With inflation predicted to tumble this year ezy and equites in general should do well. With China reopening however higher oil prices may be an issue.

Good questions moneyinvestor. The obvious answer to that is if you (we) do not know the answers then it is a risky investment.

I don't personally know the answers but you'd think if an individual, organisation was being sued for the value of an investment (40.19%), they lost, and didn't have the money to pay then the assets they hold would then be transferred to plaintiff. Who would then be able to do as they like with them.

The worst case scenario would be that Ferrexpo are liable for the 40.19% and therefore the share holders.

I'd say the first option but am biased towards that as a shareholder. I think this is generally now a risky investment. Not just because of the war but the uncertainty around legal/ownership issues.

Good effort MakinHay. You should have kept hold of them. One day this will fly quicker than a Russian Bot to the border when the conscription papers come through. A profit is a profit though.
