What a load of rubbish. If Russia were going to take over Ukraine why haven't they done so already? It took them 6 months to take control of Bakhmut. An insignificant town in the middle of no where, no on outside of eastern Ukraine had ever even heard of six months ago. Considering Putin thinks he's a superpower his invasion of Ukraine will go down as the biggest military failure in modern history. Lets invade a country and not even bother telling the troops and commanders until the night they go in! Lets invade a country and not even bother trying to gain air superiority! Lets invade a country and not even bother suppressing enemy positions when we drive the tanks in! Lets invade a country and not even bother securing our foreign reserves! Very true Evan. I'd say its an unwinnable war for Putin but when you have no regard for the life of your own people it could go on for a while.

Blackrock have been reducing their position for well over a year now. The share price often moves in line with other miners or the price of Iron Ore. Most miners are up today so I'd say the share price is continuing to head south on lack of info from the battlefield. Any sign this war is going to drag on forever or end in stalemate won't be positive for us. Like you say success on the ground or positive Q2 results could see it turn around.

Everything is down due to this US debt ceiling thing. Which they obviously have to raise. Only think of interest that can come out the AGM is increased production or exports continue via other routes. Off for a round of golf ⛳️

Depends what your aim is. You want to make a quick profit, good luck. You want build a position and think we we are two years from now it’s a different story. All I’m saying is I don’t think the F-16s announcement is a big thing in the short term. 4 months ago the delivery of western tanks was a big thing. What’s the share price done since then?

You might be right on sentiment. Long term gains will only be made on fundamentals.

I’m not talking down FXPO at all. The fundamentals of this business are sound (except legal issues). I’ve been long here since before the war and still am. But F-16s aren’t going to make any different for a while. Even if the share price goes up this week it’s not going to fully recover until Ferrexpo are producing and exporting at the levels seen before the Russian invasion. Alternative routes will be more expensive and the threat of a Russian attack will still be there. The real gains to be made here is when there’s some kind of peace treaty or the Ukrainians drive the Russian vermin out.

If we head back to £2 I’ll admit it’s a game changer and eat my shorts.

4 - 6 months to train pilots on F-16s. Then you have to have them in place, logistics, supply line for parts etc etc. This is the right decision and good for Ukraine but it isn’t go to make any difference this year. In a week it will be old news and it isn’t going to help Ukrainian exporters get access to the Black Sea ports any time soon.

I’m more interested in what’s comes out of the AGM this week.

I don’t think agreeing to train pilots is going to make much difference in the short/medium term. They haven't even started training pilots yet. Who’s agreed to give them F16s? They also need to train ground crews, organise logistics etc. Going on how long it took them to get tanks into the country I think we’ll be lucky to see F16s operational in Ukraine this year.

Personally I don’t think the share price will go anywhere with the legal issues rearing its ugly head again. A successful counter offensive however would be positive.

US and allies planning to provide F-16 jets to Ukraine - report

Further to reports we brought you earlier that Joe Biden had endorsed plans to train Ukrainian pilots on US-made F-16 fighter jets, a senior official has now said the US and its allies are planning to provide the jets to Ukraine at some point.

The official told Sky's sister network NBC News that the move was part of an effort to strengthen Ukraine's long-term security.

They also noted the F-16s would not necessarily come from the US.

It is still unclear when Ukraine will receive the F-16s, and which countries they will come from.

"Discussions about improving the Ukrainian air force reflect our long-term commitment to Ukraine's self-defence," the senior administration official said.

The training, according to the official, "will take place outside Ukraine at sites in Europe and will require months to complete".
