I'm very sceptical of any peace this year. If there ever is any, Putin would like to do it on a Chinese/Indian brokered type thing. Then he can say this is the way forward and the West coursed the whole thing, this is the new world order etc etc etc. He's so far up their a#*es it must be embarrassing for him. Any Chinese brokered deal is unlikely to require Putin to give back the land he's taken. Any Chinese brokered deal is going to be in their best interests in light of doing the same thing to Taiwan. The same is true of BRICS. China is bigger than all the other BRICS members combined. Its basically an organisation to ensure China's continued access to their natural resources.

All this basically leaves the West with two choices. Come up with some kind of huge Lend Lease type deal to give Ukraine enough equipment to get their land back and kick the Russian scum out. Or allow China to broker a deal for Russia allowing them to keep the land they have taken and a new world order where that's normal behaviour. If we allow Russia to do that once then they can go ahead and do it again in the future to another country. So can China and who ever else wants to drag the world back 100 years. I can't see anything major happening until after the US elections.

Dnipro would be a tall order. The Russians have been on the right bank of the Dnieper river before and had to withdraw. Its a natural barrier. Any kind of break through is likely to see them consolidate their positions in the rest of the Donbas first. Poltava is a long way away and unlikely. If they ever did though we'd lose all our investment.

Give Klitschko the job. He's obviously lining himself up for Zelensky job, has a PHD and would be good on the international stage.

I think all eyes are on the US elections in November. If Harris wins then who knows what her position on Ukraine will be. This Chinese, Brazilian now back by South Africa, so called peace plan is a load of rubbish. Among other things, it called for respect of UN principles, the establishment of a balanced European security architecture, the cessation of hostilities, dialogue and negotiation and the end to unilateral sanctions. The plan does not, however, mention the withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine or the return of occupied territories. China wants to position itself as the new global peace broker before it invades Taiwan. How is Russia respecting UN principles?

I actually never said Ukraine should target Moscow, I said Moscow would be in range if Ukraine develops their own long range missiles. One of Putin's so called reason's for Ukraine not being able to joint NATO was that Moscow (Russian Airspace) would be in range of NATO missiles from several different directions. Iron ore down on Chinese outlook/ demand. China has been driving high commodity prices for decades. How long can they keep building unprofitable infrastructure projects and ghost cities? Maybe when Ukraine are within artillery range of Kursk and Belgorod they should spend a month or two levelling them to the ground. Then move in and make anyone still left there, who they've liberated, participate in a referendum to see if they want to be part of Russia or Ukraine. With a few armed soldiers stood over them obviously. Any one of fighting age can then be swept up into the Ukrainian army and any children left hanging around can be taken back to Ukraine to help with the awful demographic situation. If you are one of the unfortunate ones that losses your life in the process, then no big deal, that's just our logic. Everyone's a winner.

It might be easier for Ukraine to just seize the assets but that's not going to shed them in good light when trying to attract foreign investment after the war. Its also a bit hypocritical of France to not extradite him but then demand they crack down on corruption to be eligible for EU membership.
