i doubt i'll ever get a chance at that kind of exposure to this kind of opportunity. by the time i'm old enough (by which i mean rich enough) to risk over quarter of a mil on a single AIM stock i'll be far too risk averse. Plus i'm not convinced that opportunities like this one come along all that often.....check out LSE pages on most other stocks and they'll have people saying that they're the best risk on the whole of aim...but so much of AIM is complete dross.

i wish you well, and not just because you making a gob load of cash here results in me make a smaller gob load of cash too ;-)

as has been previously mentioned, someone at the AGM asked about the length and said "5, 10, 15 years?" and PF said, "yes, one of those" with a big smile....i'd happily take 10 or 15 years, but he later referenced a long term contract (possibly even said very long). i suppose that 15 years is very long, but would love it if he was just making a flippant comment and it is in fact longer than 15

smudge: they're not scanned and returned to the ship..they're scanned and taken off to be either unloaded (i assume) or driven to their end destination. you see CMA CGM and Maersk containers on the motorway...especially in Europe.

you're not posting upbeat messages. you're posting some that are trying to figure out the potential of this contract (they're fine, spare for the fact you struggle to accept that a container and TEU are different things) then you post some random statements as if fact that are simply ramping, not of any use to anyone..just clogging up the BB. Try to stick to the providing genuine opinions, facts and figures.

and don't get so worked up when someone calls you out for ramping. it can't be good for your heart.

ps. how does anyone invested here not know that the containers are scanned on the back of trucks? i can feel your exasperation in answer that one. but there was no need to shout at the poor chap ;-)

Smudge. I’m pretty sure that PF did say that all containers would be screened at Tema.....in contrast to most ports.

my issue is that you post an inordinate amount of messages that are massively rampy. you've been here about 5 minutes and in that time have posted some many statements like "double your money in 3 days"....tell me, how does that benefit the investors on this board?

we can only process 1m containers when the port is at a bigger capacity.....categorically 1m TEU is NOT 1m containers.

cars are not TEUs. A TEU is a crude method of measuring the capacity of a container ship or a container terminal. so a twenty foot long shipping container is 1 TEU, a 40 foot (as you correctly stated) is two TEUs. a container ship will have many layers stacked on top of one another...so they have to be certain sizes for the stacking to work...think lego. if you stuck one car in place of a container then you couldn't put any containers stacked on it, so you'd lose a massive amount of space. there is a chance that they can fit cars in spaces around the edge where the shape of the ship doesn't allow for an entire container stack...but i really wouldn't know.

either way, i doubt WSG would charge by the TEU, much more likely by the container.

i'm not sure what else Tema can take....PF mentioned that the old port would still be taking something....maybe it was iron ore. could well be that dry bulk goes to the old port and just containers to the new. i haven't researched the port in all that much detail.....i'll put details into my model when the contract is signed and we have more details.

I haven’t a clue about cars. Container ships carry containers. So if they had cars they’d be in the containers. They can’t just stick random small items on the ship. It needs specifically made and sized containers so that they can be stacked appropriately. I haven’t a clue what WSG will get per container but I doubt very much they’ll be screening anything other than containers.

Invest: just to clarify, the port is going to expand to a potential of 3.5m TEUs, not 3.5m containers.

this will be a key difference in estimating revenue from the contract.....that said, at this share price i'd argue that the difference doesn't matter since so little potential from this contract is priced in currently

Mike, a 20ft unit (or TEU - or twenty-foot equivalent unit) is the standard unit that container ships use to measure capacity. so you can compare the ships. they used to be mid to high single digit thousands of TEU, now they can be up to 20,000 - which are much more efficient and the way the industry is moving....hence the need for a deeper port. But a container shipping company or analyst for that matter would always talk in TEUs rather than containers. i assume our fees will be based on containers rather than TEUs.

some containers will be larger, so a 20,000 TEU ship may have that capacity but actually carry fewer, larger containers. for example i believe that 40 foot units are more popular than 20.
