Yes they were, but not specifically as Vaccine Volunteers. that's the point. The Mail article suggests that the doctors they referred to in hasiba's link were being recruited for that purpose, and as we can see hasiba said much the same thing in his earlier post ,
"Some retired doctors applied to join the volunteer vaccinators 9 months ago and still not approved by NHS England!!"

At the time they were asking in April it was for much more "Coalface" work in the then planned Nightingale hospitals etc and to relieve the staff shortages at that level. To say they were being recruited simply as vaccine Volunteers nine months ago is simply incorrect. The requests out now are for medical students, St John Ambulance and other appropriate people. Not retired doctors.
LL, as you say, misinformation(or loose terminology) can make matters seem worse than they actually are.
Thanks for highlighting the original call for retired NHS staff early last year though. You are right! :-)

Two points;
Are you actually saying that the NHS was recruiting retirees etc specifically for vaccine Volunteers in April? if you are that's amazing planning and runs counter to what many believe the NHS management to be. I'm not sure they were really recruiting specifically for that in April.
Secondly as Sir John Bell mentioned in his interview anyone can administer a vaccine (I think that's why the NHS is asking for volunteers from November last). Whilst his response might have been a bit flip, the point is that it's not a rocket science thing, and I really find it incredible that doctors are being held back from being accepted as vaccine volunteers. In fact if doctors were specifically being wasted in that role I would be very upset. They can do much more important things.
I take Bermudashorts point below that the Mail's article is a bit OTT, and as we all know you shouldn't (necessarily) believe everything we read in the press. I do understand that you might feel it is correct.... i just have some reservations.
So best we agree to differ a little on this one. :-)

thanks for the links. The Mail seemsed to be the most specific but looks a bit like they have linked the original call to arms to retired and recently left frontline workers into the Vaccine Volunteer issue. Guess it means that somewhere along the line a bit of journalistic licence has been applied, because the counter argument is pretty good in that a recruitment compaign started nine months ago for Vaccination Volunteers shows most unlikely forward planning capacity for the NHS beaurocrats!!!!!.. Maybe I should ask the Mail to verify its source LOL.
Anyway again, thanks for coming back and it shows the value of attaching source links!

I get the frustration that people have with the NHS (and there have been some disasters) but I was so apalled to read in your post that the Vaccinator Volunteers were being recruited NINE months ago (April 2020) and were still not approved by NHS that i had a quick look.
This link shows the appeal was started on 20th NOVEMBER 2020 just over ONE month ago.
Where can you show me they started asking in APRIL 2020?
I'm only asking because I was so shocked at the apalling time delay you quoted.

It hasn't closed yet (the gap not Wickes) but it will be interesting to see whether we depart for good in a Northerly direction, or whether the gap is closed and then we may progress with Super Expanding Bombproof Gap Filler! :-)

it doesn't alter the fact that the gap can easily be filled... maybe even this afternoon, but as you say "In the new year" maybe the Covid aspect of Scancell will take over and there'll be many buyers. It wouldn't necessarily prevent the chart being fulfilled would it? And if it were then the whole rise and fall (and possible further rise could all have taken place in a quiet holiday time).
it certainly would fit nicely to the chart though would it not?
Purely an observation but you have to consider all possibilities when using TA.
If you think about it it wouldn't be difficult to massage the SP at this time of year to make things fit.
In fact if you bid the market high enough at the open after the SCLP Covid announcement before Christmas you could easily create a sizeable gap.... Particularly if you had a great deal of Money and a low average in the Target stock... and then you can subsequently decide where the market goes.... when you have a load of loose stock to dispose of in a quiet (holiday) period.. LOL.

Merely offering an explanation for the possibilities. the 100D, 50D and 20D MA are all within the gap now so as the impetus of the "Covid Rally" just before Christmas patently hasn't been maintained and so the Gap now offers an explanation (and hopefully some comfort) to those who haven't noticed its existance.
It is merely something that would maybe help explain the drop.
I was surprised though that noone mentioned it when the Charts were discussed.

That no one seems to have mentioned the Gap at 12.5p on the chart, so perhaps the low volume movements are to close what I assume many had decided was a breakout gap which would not be revisited. I imagine those who bought on the way up had closed their longs in anticipation of a Christmas/New Year trading opportunity.
Seems rude not to complete the move now surely?

What with some good price movements here of late, a possible conclusion to Brexit (however unsuitable it will be for most), the hope that the existing Approved Vax will at least temper the three strains of Covid now in circulation, the prospect of several days off work and the fact that the roads will be pretty clear - assuming anyone was allowed to go anywhere,

as I wrote in my earlier the date on the listing that WTP took is 20th October (this year)LOL!!! My comment about arbitrage was completely tongue in cheek!
Also the pricing in the States will be wide and it is not LISTED on an exchange but the Pink sheet is a listof stocks with prices (OTC) at which the listers are preapred to Buy/Sell. It has an apalling reputation and is the Go To place for penny shares. Not something that Scancell would want to be part of in my estimation.

I think you will find it is a pink sheet quote page. Not Nasdaq listed.
The shares are not US listed but a daily share published service in the States.
Sadly you have not found what many would like. A US quote!
