@Ceej - It's looks like the GDXJ bought the shares themselves in the week leading up to the 18th. There were multiple 8million buys that week and by the end of the week they had satisfied the requirement so there was no need to buy anymore in the UT auction like the previous time. If you check on this morningstar link you can see than the VanEck holding has gone up in December and they now own more than 220million shares.

Nice little paragraph in the "Mining Proposal" document.

"Newcrest has included a 10 ha provision of additional disturbance for additional mine activities on
L45/582 to provide flexibility in identification of borrow pits for any upgrade activities along the
service corridor. Additional laydown areas have been included on M45/1287 in the event additional
clearing is required. The total proposed disturbance is 190 ha which includes 43 ha of previously
approved disturbance"

Looks like they are using a combination of "drill & blast" and a "roadheader" to develop the decline.

Had to look up what a "roadheader" was - looks pretty fearsome.

It's a fairly weighty document and includes a lot of detail on the design of the box-cut & portal as well as a lot of other info. Just skimming through it now - I'm sure Bamps & others will appreciate the design details included.

@strudel - intriguing to say the least.

Here's today's image from planet, circled is the area where you saw the lights. It is right in the middle of the access track that goes through Scallywag on the road to Havieron. Nothing obvious that I can see TBF.

Unfortunately the image doesn't go far enough east to see Havieron yet today. I'd say perhaps they are moving in the heavy decline gear at night to avoid the heat of the day??

I was looking back at the report from 12 months ago and if you scroll down to the end of the JORC table in the box headed "Further Work" it contains this statement

"The results of drilling to date indicate the limits of mineralisation have been closed off to the east, and south, and remain open to the north, and at depth."

Fast forward to the latest report in December last year where it says:

"mineralisation at the Havieron deposit has been identified internally and externally to the Crescent zone,
including targets which remain open to the east, northwest and southeast. mineralisation has been observed
to greater than 1000m in vertical extent below the post mineral cover sequence and remains open at depth.
The extents of the Havieron system are still to be defined."

No mention of the mineralisation being closed off in any direction any more - "the extents of the Havieron system are still to be defined" - just let that sink in people, that is after 24/7 drilling for almost 2 years and 12 sets of outstanding results.

Hi @Strudel - nothing doing at all - from what I can see it's deathly silent out there.

Have to remember though - it's their summer holiday period out there and they've been grafting in savage heat for months on end. Probably just an extended holiday back with friends & family and they will be back at it next week IMO.

Just to keep everyone in the loop as well. I've just got a clear updated image from Havieron today on planet.com and nothing has changed in the Havieron area since the last clear one on Jan 3rd.

I think they must be off for this week as well - probably having a decent break and back to it in earnest next week.

I've heard (again not verified by me) that GGP has a weighting of 0.6% in the index. It seems a lot of smaller company funds use that index as their benchmark - I guess it does mean they have to buy GGP but if they didn't and it has another good year then they would risk seriously under-performing against their benchmark.

Hi Floater - as people who have been here for a long time will realise - Jan 15th was the date of the fateful RNS that heralded the fact that Newmont had said "Not at this time" to their involvement in the EG project.

I think we traded over 1 billion shares that day and saw the SP tumble - wouldn't it be poetic to drop the Scallywag one on the same day 3 years later.

Honestly folks, we all need to get a grip. What possible motive would GH or the company in general have to hold onto the Scallywag results?

We have been told on a few occasions and it's been reported by numerous other companies and in the Aussie press that there is a backlog in the assay labs.

I couldn't care less if we don't get the results until February, although it would be lovely if they could release stellar results on Jan 15th even though that's a Friday so very doubtful.

Hi zoros - it depends on the copper content if there is a discovery of magnitude at Scallywag.

It's not the quantity of ore - it's the make-up of it. The might be able to re-configure one of the trains at Telfer to process higher grade copper ore and the other to process the gold.

I know they can handle in excess of 20mtpa there definitley.

Higher gold grades for me too if we have a choice. I'm led to believe that Telfer will need upgrades to it's circuits to handle the ore from Havieron as the copper content is much higher than it's current feed.

If we hit a very high grade mostly copper deposit then it's possible that Telfer might not be able to handle it without significant upgrades or even a new processing plant. Nice problem to have but a nice high grade, shallower, gold deposit would be ready made to ship straight to Telfer.

Some numpties on here today I see.

Agree 100% with Jerry, TmT. Very well presented and persuasive arguments.

I am already a fan of the deal anyway so you are leaning against an open door here but you have laid out out very well and like Jerry says if both parties come out smelling of roses then it's happy days ago around.
