Where I used to work made the alternators for fridge units, only a couple of KW, probably too expensive to break into that market at the moment.

That's possibly the most stupid thing I've heard of, you'd need a stack of around 24 per charge point. And a charging point has to work, you can't arrive and have a dead stack and not be able to charge.

How much of a coal plant is recycled? how much of the coal is recycled? overall still better than the alternatives. Solar panels will be recycled, the metals can be extracted and reused, in the same way that cpu's can be recycled, there just needs to be an economic reason for doing it.

Which is why top up at home and just them as you would use motorway fuel stops, rarely. But they will need to be there.

They will either price themselves out of the market, or the market will move, either way it makes our issues with cost per kW seem like a non issue. Service stations in some locations have always been more expensive.

They need 40+ ecotricity chargers really. So that's 6Mw, that's not trivial. Conservatively e charging takes 4x longer than fueling, with 10 fuel pumps to replace that'll be 40+

What's the carbon footprint for creating petrol or diesel? And the refining of the steel for the engine, the machining of the engine, the oil for for the engine etc. etc. Are we comparing apples with apples, or battery creation carbon cost vs tailpipe carbon cost?

My opinion is that diesel and petrol taxes will start to increase, heavy vehicles first, then mass transit, then cars, this will then change the economics of driving anything powered by fossil fuels.

They can certainly say no more sales from 2030 onwards, whoever is first to market, wins.

If everywhere has say 20% over capacity and strong connections between countries capable of shuffling multi GW capacity around then the balancing would be simpler as no one would need 50-100% over capacity. Not windy here? It will be somewhere else, too windy here? Somewhere else it's still. Etc.
