Didn't see the Ricardo incident but have seen it happen before, usually with relatively small cap stocks. The other month, when EPWIN got upto 109, the charts (not that I believe in them but other people do so I check) indicated hugely overbought with a 110 ceiling so some 'professional' people will sell it short and, true enough, it fell right back. Short traders don't tend to buy back while it's still ticking down - a cash bid means they have to at a point when the real owners aren't selling so it can, occassionally, push the price above the offer. Rare but does happen.
