...not reflected in the SP yet. Decent mid-term benefits in management savings, office savings, increasing dividends and lower charges. AND I expect the merged entity to be in FT100 in due course.

....does not escape today's bloodbath! Hopefully there will be a quick and sharp recovery.

LanceB - ITs and others are realising that there are significant savings to be made by getting larger through merging. Cuts out expensive office space and some pricey managers. Hopefully the 'panel' management style carries on working long term.

Been a shareholder in Alliance for decades and slightly fewer years with Witan . Not clear what the synergies are . The two investments do not have a similar strategy o am I wrong there anyone ? Lets hope it works for both cohorts of shareholders .

Seems sensible but just so long as the new management team are made to repeat every day (!!) 'Bigger does not always mean Better'. There will, however, be a decent opportunity for economies of size.
